Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

My company just released a rah-rah internal corporate communication about the official grand opening ceremony for the two new towers we built just outside the new Vikings stadium. The title of the article is "From Barren Ground to Skyline Gem," and all I can think about is that it's been two months, I would just appreciate the cleaning staff mopping the bathroom floors for once because the urine splashes all over the floor and that brown smudge have been there for a long, long time now. This "gem" has a lot of flaws in it.

That just shows the gem is natural and not lab created....wait, I think the analogy just broke down...

Holy f it's hot and humid here in cityslickerville. And apparently it's going to be worse tomorrow.

I'm glad I get to take clients out and about today and tomorrow all while wearing a suit and tie. Not.

Think twenty below. Think twenty below.

I haven't been assigned to a "suit & tie" project yet. Now that I've said that, watch me get assigned to a gov't project in DC, in late August. :)

It is quite humid. Thankfully, I'm gone in two days! I actually turned on the A/C last night because of the humidity. The heat I can handle, and actually like.

Today was the most anti-Tuesday I've had in a LONG time. A weekly order never dropped in (which means it's dropping in tomorrow); this order pretty much guarantees an extra hour of work at the end of the day for me. On top of that, it was slower at work, so didn't have to go to the main building after I got done at off-site. What a way to start the weekend!!!!

Have I mentioned lately that Denver, Colorado secretly has the worst weather in the country and that no one should ever move here under any circumstances?

Still thinking of moving there when I'm retired. I'm used to unpredictable and crappy weather. ;)

Bullets fired in D1. :D

Screw Denver, I'm gunning for Crested Butte. It's the upper-middle class skiing man's Aspen. ;)

My first choice is actually the Springs, if I don't retire to northern MN, Two Harbors area. Then Denver, if I can get a place near the Mall, believe it or not.

May not want that - it's getting kinda skeevy down there because that's where the transients hang out.

We had a guy go nuts and start swinging around a 10 foot piece of pipe in the Mall. It was on the news.

Eh, I probably know the Springs better than Denver, the parts I'd be looking at are very good right now.

As for the Mall, that's news? ;) Definitely used to that sort of thing in CO. Lotsa crazies in that area.

Lotsa crazies in the area... and Brent would make just one more.

Yeah, the legal jazz cabbage has unfortunately attracted an underbelly of transients. Getting to the point where businesses are starting to take notice. Police to their credit are doing what they can to crack down.

Before it was legal, it was the worst kept secret in town. Saw many a transient and many a transaction during my visits there. Kept to themselves at that time, dunno what it's been like since it was legalized...

They've gotten a lot younger and more aggressive. Kids get starry-eyed and move out here with no job and no place to call home, end up in over their heads on the street, and get desperate. Our current "us vs. them" climate divides only empower them further.
