Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Happy Monday. A hot and humid one here today. Thunderstorms and wind predicted for late afternoon/early evening. I brought an umbrella and windbreaker to safe and to ensure that nothing happens till after I get home tonight. Nothing like heading into the office first thing on a Monday after traveling out of town all weekend.

Anxiously awaiting the afternoon thunderstorms as I hope it will cool off this heat/humidity. I am trying to stave off turning on the AC during the day, but when it's 85 in your apartment...sometimes you cave.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Heading home on the T tonight, took the train back one station to guarantee I get a seat. Get off at the stop, crossed the platform to get in space for the next train headed my way and I see smoke. Nothing bad. Then all of a sudden I hear a loud *poof* and a huge cloud of black smoke comes billowing out of one of the cars. Everyone panics and starts running out of the station.

I run with them as I have no idea what it was. I didn't think it was anything nefarious but these days you never know. It was probably just something electrical or something overheating but even that could've become something more. After a few minutes I went back down to the platform as my northbound train arrived. Trains are moving with delays. That was something I wasn't prepared to deal with tonight.

Shot a personal record in skeet tonight, a week after I shot my 2 worst rounds ever. A small adjustment and all is good again.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Bigger targets? ;)

Ha, no. Just finally figured out exactly how far I have to lead the target. There's no need to lead anything in trap, so its a bit of adjustment for skeet. You have to lead them further than it seems you should, 3+ feet.

Good Afternoon Lodge!

It is h-o-t in 978 land. Ugh. It was this hot in the Bahamas but walking into the ocean every half hour or so made it more than tolerable. Walking down into the pit (the les family's name for the cellar) to change the laundry and have a brief moment of cool is not the same thing :(

This is why Louis Carrier invented air conditioning....
