Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Yesterday it registered 114 outside temp when I got in my car. Thought it was parking lot but was still 98+ when I was driving.

You're getting what MN got last weekend. While I (and others) were in the UP, where it just creeped above 80*. :D

*They said, and I almost quote, "3 days above 80? That's unreal. Can't imagine what you guys get." I almost spit out my drink. 80 is HOT for them. Heaven to us.

When I went on my campus tour at Tech it hit 110.

The hottest I've ever seen Houghton was at mel's wedding. It was about 110 heat index when we left MPLS at 9am. It was close to 100 in Houghton. That was insane.

This is why Louis Carrier invented air conditioning....
A true American Hero.

Eat steak and then pee on the tomatoes. That was about the most effective thing we found. (didn't always work!)

Good Morning Lodge!

It is still bleeding hot. No central AC. However- I am not working so life is still good. Very good!
Both my mom and the dog are glad that we got her a window unit for her room while she's recovering from her hip replacement.

And that's why the UP is Heaven according to some.

Good morning Lodge! Middle seat for my 6 hour flight to Portland. Ugh. Two screaming babies by my count. Well, one screaming and one currently sleeping. That one is across the aisle so I expect screaming soon. :) JetBlue has free wifi so I should be able to keep you all updated.

Too bad it's not Portland, ME, instead.

80 is HOT. Too hot.

Yesterday wasn't terrible here. A big chunk of our time was in the Smoky Mountains, not much humidity and reasonable temps at the higher altitude. Today and tomorrow will suck something fierce though.

Too bad, cause Asheville is a terrific town to visit.

If you were as far East as Raleigh I'd buy ya a beer.

Happy Birthday nmupiccdiva!

Good Morning Lodge!

Now in 70s but so humid you could take a bath if you too fast. Raining thank goodness. We are in drought.

Almost off to Chicago... Have to bide my time before last minute errands... Annual conference and all that stuff

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Good afternoon Lodge.

Preparing for our next camping trip. 8 days visiting the north shore. Should be absolutely spectacular. Home base will be Grand Marais. I am worried about this trip as I might not want to go back home.

No, if you spoke Minneesootan, you'd know that the north shore is the north shore of Lake Superior (of if you looked up Grand Marais, you'd see that).;)

I looked up Grand Mary and she slapped me for it.
