Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat
Greetings from Birmingham, AL. I fly to Atlanta tomorrow and I did check the schedule and saw that the Braves are home against the Mets so I may go to that game on Sunday. What I neglected to check was whether Alabama had a home football game. They do. Kinda bummed because the cost and effort to change my flight and try to go see that game when I don't have a confirmed ticket is too much. Oh well. Maybe another time.
So, I got a BRAVO award at work on Wednesday. These are multi-level recognitions awards employees can get for a job well done. I got one on Wednesday as I've been handling the all-employee cup distribution for a second time. As this second one didn't have the Team USA logo on it, I really didn't need to have any part in it but our Internal Comms team reached out to my boss and asked for me to help manage, and I've done it. One of the came by with the award to present to me and thank me profusely for taking care of it. You pick your prize from a catalog that varies based on the level you receive. Anyway, I got the award Wednesday. I know my boss knew about it - the employee's manager has to be included even if it's not that manager presenting the awards - but she never came out to say anything. Or even send an email. She's been very busy, I know, but she came running out of her office earlier when my co-worker came back from vacation and looked at all her pictures, etc. Later in the afternoon, I emailed her an update of some things I've been working on given that I'm traveling and out of the office for 5 days. I poked my head in her office on the way out the door to let her know I sent it and she says very hurriedly "I don't know when I'll look at it." Uh, OK. I just wanted to say bye, I'm gone, I gave you an update. She texts me about 6:30, saying she'll read my emails Thursday, so many things she's working on, so overwhelmed. No mention of the award. Fine, I understand. I do.
She follows me on Twitter so I posted there just to see if I would get any response. Nothing. Yesterday I tweeted that I got a brain freeze from drinking a milkshake too fast - ha ha. THAT tweet she favorites. I need to stop letting these things bother me.
