Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Well that's pretty cryptic, at least to a guy who hasn't been around since April.
What news from the Mark?

(That's a movie reference that you should understand, wT.)

I am now in place in my new job at Norwich U, so I get to see mountains for three more years, and some quality D-III hockey! And UVM and Dartmouth are each only 45 minutes from my house as well, so D-I is accessible, as well.
This boreal forest I do deeply dig.

Mankato State applied to the NCHC for admittance, along with ASU. The NCHC has denied application to both, deciding to play a game of wait-and-see with regards to the fate of the Alaskan schools. The Alaskan schools' hockey programs may be closed down due to highly derided and debated state budget issues/concerns.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Just spent the last two hours getting new tenants in trouble for moving in illegally. I know this is probably the busiest move in time of the year. Move in time is M-F 9-5pm and you have to call the management company ahead of time to schedule it. Last night there was a UHaul and two guys moving someone out. Tonight I caught these four women moving into that unit I had bid on back in May. The guy that bought it turned around and rented it out to these four women. Yesterday they were moving in thru the front door, which is a big no no. Trustee guy caught them and told them to stop, they said no one told them and kept on moving. Today they were moving thru the gate, had it open wide for anyone to walk in the building. I told them to stop. They quickly finished.

Came upstairs to my place, started making dinner, hear something, look outside and now there's another group of people moving in. My friend who lives a few floors up from me and I went down there. Same thing - renters. Owner never told them. I told them that the door to the pool area locks on a timer and no key can open it, to clear all the stuff out of the workout room and finish the rest tomorrow. Showed them the notice from the management company. They didn't know, and I get that, but they were still breaking the rules.

This place is going to hell in a handbasket. Owner occupied units are down to 65% from 75%. People are using this as income property. The new management company is terrible. They are completely nonresponsive. I was talking to some guys on the board and they said they're looking into a new management company. I hope that happens. This is getting ridiculous.

On one hand, this all seems completely silly and pointless. On the other I'm extremely happy I live in a place where people can't tell me when I can move stuff in and out of my home (its my home, **** if anyone is going to tell me what I can do) or what door I use.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

I'm glad that all my neighbors follow the rules, as far as I know, and have a good mgmt company. I think the last instance was my A/C (wall unit) burned out, I was heading to Houghton the next day for a couple days, said "no hurry, barely use it anyways." They were still there within 2 hours to replace the whole unit.

Apparently today was my Tue. 4:00-4:55, exactly ONE item for the shuttle truck.
4:55--6 half-pallets' worth of orders hit the system. This is why I refer to Wednesday as "A-Hole Customer Day." Had to wait until the last minute, didja? And I know the specific companies that do this, and they can die in a fire.

Good Morning Lodge.

Looks like my home AC has crapped the bed for good. Had a problem at the start of summer and got it fixed to get this far. Probably need a new condensing unit (the outdoor part). But should really replace the whole system to change to the newer refrigerant (R-410a instead of R-22).

Our AC is all the windows open and hope for a breeze.

Good Afternoon Lodge!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Afternoon Lodge peeps. Had my interview (?) with TSA to get TSA Pre Check. Which I should've done a year ago. Now at my podiatrist office for an appointment. Did someone work while I was home earlier. When I took my laptop out of its docking station last night I apparently didn't shut down so when I tried to log on this morning it didn't work. That was a 24 second panic attack.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

So it looks like I have a little bone spur in my toe. Doctor told me he can do a procedure in the office to fix it, just couldn't do it today. Which I didn't want to happen anyway. This is toe he operated on three years ago. I knew there was something there. Now I just need to find a time to get it done.
