Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

If management won't let you, or if you're too indispensable to be gone, that's another thing, and you should be able to get paid for it in that case.
This is where I'm at this year. Went live on a new ERP system in February and the problems have been monumental. This has made it extremely difficult for those of us holding things together to take time off. In fact, I've had 2 planned vacations canceled (one my choice, the other theirs). I now have until the end of January to take 5 weeks of PTO. I've been asking if I will be compensated if it doesn't happen and nobody will answer that question.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

For the Boston members, I am currently reviewing plans for the remodel of a Lifetime Fitness in Newton (Chestnut Hill). This company does all Lifetimes.

On another note, I am baffled by people who won't take all the vacation time they have coming. I can't imagine being unable to keep busy for a week at a time. Especially in the summer - so many things to do. If management won't let you, or if you're too indispensable to be gone, that's another thing, and you should be able to get paid for it in that case.

If I owned a home, that'd be different. There's ALWAYS some sort of thing you can do/need to do in that situation.

bbdl: As for the Frozen Four, gimme money. I have a few HUGE expenses that will need to be taken care of in the next year or so (one is coming up this month).

Finally, it's not that I won't take the vacation, it's that I forget about how much I have, and USUALLY hockey takes care of it at the beginning of the year/etc. This particular year, things just didn't pan out for random days off, and now I'm actually playing catch-up. I usually border on no-carryover (last year I only carried over 18 hours or so).

I took off today to make it a four-day weekend. I did nothing all day and it was everything I thought it could be. Actually, I went to physical therapy for my rotator cuff and then took a nice, long nap. I've been sleep deprived recently.

Good Morning, MEUSA! :)

Good Morning to the rest of tLodge! :)

Les won't find out that I went out bike riding before the wind picks up. ;)

Mornin' Lodge.

Empty slate today; some churchin' then some Netflixin'. Hitting up the Fair tomorrow with the parents as Monday doesn't look as nice as tomorrow, as for weather. Hoping for two food comas. ;)

Good Morning Lodge.

Mrs and I will take a bike ride to show her my new office, then chores. Tonight we'll pick up Jr from work and all drive in to the Twins' game (neighbors gave us tix). Mrs is getting worried about the house. We've been in it 16 years and thing are breaking or looking worn. Need to get some stuff done.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Found out that church is closing at 6pm on their final day, instead of midnight/1am whatever it is. :( Apparently they fear rowdiness or something, although the official reason is to "let people have a free evening."

Got dibs on one of the signs/prints they have on the wall, though. Talked with the manager today. Missed out on the print of Wrigley Field (which is a beautiful print), but I'll take what I can get. I just wanted something that was ID'd this place. Hell, I have been going here for the 15 years they were open.... :(

You got caught.

Never checked in this AM. Went to UVM to watch lil run. Did well. Team is stacked. Holy crap. On the bubble again despite running really well.

Nighty night nocturnal ones.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Funny turn of things on Facebook today. A hockey buddy of mine is one of the co-owners of the Farm Boy, Farm Girl clothing company. On his Facebook page he uploaded some photos from the MN State Fair, encouraging people to stop by their display, and in the very first photo is two of my childhood neighbors; they owned the house next door to my parents' home. What are the odds of something like that to happen? There are over 100K people at the fair each day, and then the to be in that spot at that time. To my knowledge, they don't know the Farm Boy owner. It's all just a bit funny to me.

At OC Plym today, a regular spotted an old bartender next door at the Nails place. She didn't remember me at first, then when I said I came in on NFL Sundays only during her tenure..."OH MY GOD! You're THAT guy!" :) It's a small world, indeed.

This trip at work has been full of fackery. Can't wait to blow off some steam with some good college friends coming to FL to take a class in a couple weeks.
