Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Touche.

In addition to the benefit of no longer commuting an hour each way, this whole working from home thing makes the stress that much easier to deal with. Even today, when last week's client b*tches for assistance with defining certain items, even after I gave them best practices for doing so. *grumble*

It does have its problems. The good? I basically am on my own. The bad? I'm basically on my own. Good outweighs the bad, though.

Good Morning Lodge!

My office is my back yard. For the last 2-3 yrs my neck was so screwed up I couldn't really garden or do much of anything for very long. Now I have been gardening every day. Happy les!

Morning. Heading to a beer-and-sausage house today with bbdl and some other hockey folk, and then....well depends how that first part goes. Thinking about getting the giant 13" pretzel they have, in which case a nap will be in order afterwards.

I'd be more impressed if it was a 13' pretzel.

That would be amazing.

As it is, the 13" pretzel is a wonder to behold. I'm a guy that can eat 2 Chipotles in one sitting, and I've only finished the pretzel once.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Skipped the pretzel today, went with the Mac-N-Cheese Stuffed Bratwurst. It was really good. Showed up about half hour before opening, and was maybe 10th in line. By opening, there was maybe, I dunno, 100 in line? Somewhat surprised, but not shocked by it, after seeing/hearing about other tap takeover lines (Surly's was insane, b/c their fans are f*ing sheeple). Had some good beer, then bbdl/another GPLer/me went to another local brewery (Lake Monster) and each had a flight. Good taproom. HUGE taproom. HUGE.

Now, just enjoying the sunny evening, even if it's a bit windy out.

Went to go check out a townhouse today. Facebook friend posted she was selling it. She's got two small kids, loves the place but was outgrowing it. Really decent price. My parents stayed over last night so they came with me. For a townhouse, it was actually smaller than my unit. And it needs work. The walk to the MBTA was longer than expected, mail boxes were outside at the end of the parking lot....gonna pass. If the place was in better shape, maybe I would've pursued. Oh well.

Been catching up on the several hours of shows on my DVR. Did some laundry. Tomorrow I need to do some food shopping. And cooking.

I'm guessing you have fees/rules about your condo, but that's my biggest hangup about a townhouse. Some associations around here are batsh*crazy with that stuff. Having said that, given my apt's mgmt, and I've been here near 10 years, doubt I'll be moving at all. I like it here.

My parents can tell you all about condo associations and their politics. It's insane.

My biggest peeve: you "own" your yard, but not really, but kinda, unless we don't like what you're doing. And there's a big list.

Can't store anything under your deck. Can't park a panel van with a logo in your designated outdoor spot (must be in the garage). Outdoor Christmas lights/decorations have defined dates. Have to get an exemption for a third vehicle. The list goes on and on.

I moved back in with them for a few years after MTU, so I know how it goes. Dad served as the association VP, and constantly battled with the prez over reasonable enforcement. Prez was an a55hat who was forced into retirement too young, and felt the need to be the neighborhood rent-a-cop to make up for his boredom.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

I won't live somewhere someone can tell me how to deal with my house/yard. **** that noise.

Agreed. If that happens, I'll live in an apt, where they pay for EVERYTHING. Oh, wait, I do. ;)

HOAs for townhouses/condos are generally palatable. You won't be futzing with the exterior in that case which removes 95% of the drama potential, and they generally do a good job with upkeep of the grounds.

HOAs for houses with yards are a different animal.

There are some around here that have rules for cable, any yard displays/gardens/flags/etc, and then even stuff like parking in the driveway for too many days. Not kidding.
