Of course, all adults are perfect angels when they fly and would never cause a scene. Ever...

True story, flying back from Disneyland my wife, my daughter, and myself all had separated seats on the Seattle to Anchorage segment. I go to the gate agent to get things changed around since they couldn't do it at LAX. Gate agent changes things no problem, hands me new boarding passes and calls up this older gentleman to give him a new boarding pass since his seat was now changed. The older gentleman is super PO'd that he got switched to a window seat from an aisle seat, the gate agent, who looked like a 20 year plus vet, said "fine, you can sit next to the mother and 5 year old while the dad relaxes in a window seat 10 rows forward. NEXT!" He was still b*tching the entire time when I took my wife and daughter on during the early boarding.

The aholes that pretend to not know the rules and end up getting free baggage fees tee me off to no end. I'd rather be around 5 screaming babies than deal with those jack bags. Friggin' jerkoffs.

Alaska Airlines has this program for Alaska based customers, and it's only for Alaskan residents, called Club 49 that allows you two free checked bags if you fly to or from Alaska. So *ing useful. :)

Vera's sister takes full advantage of that. Every time she comes down she hits the malls to bring a ton of stuff back. She's a teacher in Kotzebue, so supplies are a tad limited.

Morning, Lodge. Happy Mother's day to the moms out there!

Bro and I are going to grill dinner for our matriarch and her lesser half ;), and it looks like it'll be a beautiful day for it.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Yesterday's lunch just added to the many reasons why I cannot stand my MIL. Hubby and I combined make 10k more than what my BIL makes alone. Hubby and I budget for everything and like to splurge once in awhile. We offered and paid for our portion of the meal. My MIL hands a check to my hubby at the table and says, "This should help cover the meal." We left absolutely furious. As we were leaving, the BIL says "sorry you had to spend that kind of money." I'm sorry that we don't have a glamorous lifestyle and top paying jobs. At least we are happy. [/rant]

If you are wondering, the total meal including tip was $40.

If I'm flying single I'm happy to relocate to another row to accommodate a couple or family - As long as I don't get moved to a middle seat. :)

Guy must have been a total arse.

Listen, there's all sorts of reasons to travel with small kids. Visiting family, moving, funerals, weddings, etc. It's actually perfectly fine to bring a baby on a plane, I did it multiple times with my daughter, it just takes preparation. Granted, with all the preparation in the world, your kid can still end up crying the whole time but you don't really know until you go.

Don't want to get all "you don't have kids so you don't understand" but, you don't have kids so you don't understand. I just find a lot of this whining to be pretty pretentious, like the crying kid is an evil plot to get you PO'd and ruin your day. It's like, I have to travel, I have to travel with my kid, I'm sorry they're crying, I don't like it either, I'm trying to deal with it.

In a previous life (I was single and had no clue what it was like with a child) I flew a tremendous amount and definitely heard my fair share of crying babies. Never bothered me. It's life.

Try planning a trip with a child that has a wheelchair. On our Disney trip.............Because of the wheelchair we didn't have to wait in the regular lines for security. The handicap security area never had a line. As we passed one particular person (that was waiting in line) I heard him mumble something to us under his breath (something like "that's no excuse to not have to wait like the rest of us). I stopped instantly and asked him to repeat himself. He wouldn't even look me in the eye. I had a few choice words for him and moved along. As we entered our security line I turned little g's wheelchair towards the guy and little g waved at him. Quite a few people that were also waiting in line near this guy waved back at little g and a few of them actually clapped. Had to be there but it was priceless.

See, that is awesome. F that guy. Some of us may have unpopular opinions about children and flying, but we are not cold-hearted bastiges. ;)
