Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Man, that sounds awfully stupid.:p

EDIT: and as I read its a recurring theme other places?!

I've had to dial 9, then 1, then the area code and phone in pretty much every job I've had and it's never been an issue. Why? Because 9 just gets you an outside line so the only way one would call 911 was if someone dialed 9, then 911. No area codes begin with 1.

It's pretty standard for the "9 to dial out", not sure how it's an issue as well.

I still haven't received my cup from Scarlet's company. Here I thought Lodge membership had its privileges? :D
She is now looking for bulk deals on oatmeal to make sure everyone gets the same thing

Little too spendy for what I want. I just want something fun and interesting I can take on back roads through the mountains without breaking the bank, not try to become The Stig.
I miss that show
Well, today is my last day of school ever.
Famous last words. I said that and then ended up back at it a few yrs later

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

So I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist for used Miatas, but I just don't know if I can bring myself to trust something coming from there. So I thought of a backup plan.

Any VW Golf GTI owners here? Would likely buy new. Everything about that car makes complete sense for me - small, good gas mileage (getting sick of filling that Wrangler,) can drive it daily and hold stuff, quick enough to be interesting but not get me killed or arrested, front wheel drive (I admittedly know just enough Gran Turismo to be dangerous.) Could spring for the automatic with flappy paddles as well - wouldn't have to futz with a stick in traffic and this is one of those cars where the automatic may actually be better (it's the same dual clutch gearbox used in a lot of the Audis and the Lamborghini Huracan.)

Talk to SoH about GTIs. Those letters are a cuss word around him.

Yeah. Just got rid of my 2007 Fahrenheit GTI. Thing was a pile. Looked great, though!

It's issues probably came from it having 136,000 miles on it, and not being taken care of properly by previous owners. Burned and leaked oil, engine would randomly miss when trying to get up to freeway speeds causing a huge belch of smoke from the exhaust, tailgate died due to an electrical issue. Those were the remaining issues after I put in a radiator, purge valve, and high pressure fuel pump. Just couldn't justify putting more money into it.

Me too.

Went for a 7.3 mile bike ride this morning before heading to bed. Trying to squeeze exercise in on night shift sucks. I don't like getting up early because that is the time that tHubs and I get to spend together, but if I workout right before bed, I'm not exhausted enough to get good sleep.

Always wanted a GTI, but then realized how expensive VWs are to maintain. Not that the Mini is much better... :o

I should have clarified the phone system a little better. You dial 9 to get an outside line, Then 1-AreaCode-PhoneNumber. It's really stupid.

At least Tuesday didn't Tuesday. It tried to, but it failed. Ha HAH!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Had the best Tuesday I've had in a long time. Probably because of the new position. Holy crap so much better. Get paid more to not be yelled at every five to ten minutes? I'm in.

So your phone system is exactly like what everyone else's company has?:p

Good Morning Lodge.

And somehow, in all these years, I've managed to never dial 911 by mistake. Because, of course, the first 9 just gets you an outside line and does not become part of the number you end up dialing. So, to actually dial 911, you have to dial 9-9-1-1, and as Scarlet points out, no area codes start with 1. :p

Not in our case. Not kidding. If you dial "911" you get 911.

I don't know of any area codes that begin with the number 1, so how could/why would someone ever call 911 accidentally? It sounds like you have trained monkey issues in your warehouse.

in our system you had to dial 1 before any area code

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

in our system you had to dial 1 before any area code

I understand that, but 9 for an outside line, followed by a 1 for the area code transfer notification, and then the actual area code will still never get you 9-1-1 in a dialing sequence. Thus, we're back to the trained monkey argument. :)
