Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

I understand that, but 9 for an outside line, followed by a 1 for the area code transfer notification, and then the actual area code will still never get you 9-1-1 in a dialing sequence. Thus, we're back to the trained monkey argument. :)

you dial 9, you don't get an immediate response. You dial it again because you think the first time didn't work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

What immediate response? Did your phone system actually have some noise or prompt? You may have. I dial 9 and never hear anything different. Even if you dial 9 twice, then 1, no area codes begin with 1. So 9 to get out, 9 again in case you didn't think it happened, 1, then why would you be dialing a second 1?

They upgraded our voicemail system last week, so now when someone calls me on my direct dial, they have to listen to an automated message and then hit a number to get my VM. What's the purpose of direct dial????

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

The dial tone changes pitch when you hit 9 where I work. Changes again when you hit 1 after that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

I can understand hitting 9 twice by accident, but you'd then have to hit 1 twice by mistake as well. Double active failure mode. We don't design for that cause it's so rare, unless you are at sea or a moron.:p

Must be the off-season if we're all here debating phone calling in the 21st century! ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

Not in our case. Not kidding. If you dial "911" you get 911.
Our phone system was recently (within the last year or so) changed so that "911" gets you 911. I was told it was a required change, but I'm not sure if it's a state or federal requirement.

I find it interesting that landlines still require the "1" for toll dialing while cellular service doesn't.

You should get more sleep so you don't forget these things...

I woke up very early wanting to go out biking, but of course it was raining. I then went back to sleep and went out riding later but not nearly as far. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

I'd watch The Twilight Zone on Netflix tonight, except for the fact that I think I lived an episode or two this afternoon in the last hour at the office.

A (soon to be former) client brings their stuff in the day before the deadline. We file an extension. They *****ed about that. Hey. Get your finger out of your *** and get your stuff to the CPA more than 20 hours before the deadline. We get the return done and e-file it, just like we're supposed to. Fine. Cool. He came and picked the stuff up today. Again, fine. An hour later, the wife calls *****ing about why we e-filed the return, and how this is how identity theft starts, and dammit, she didn't want to e-file. I inform her that she is going to have to speak with the owner of the practice, and that he would be calling shortly (because this is just about all I'm going to sit here and listen to, although I didn't drop that nugget on her). She gets ****ed, *****es a little more, and hangs up.

****.

Apparently Wednesday is my new Tuesday.

Same *ing customers order (basically) the same *ing sh* every *ing Wednesday, monstrous orders, in the last hour of the day, despite reports that they don't really need the order the next day. Totally *s us over, and it's bullsh*. Mgmt said they were going to try and change that, or talk to the sales reps who enter the orders, but apparently that hasn't *ing happened yet.

Sounds like there's a gang fight going on on Newton Ave in North MPLS. At least seven people at North Memorial with gunshot wounds so far. Not close to us, thank goodness. 10 blocks east and 30 blocks south.

One dead, according to the Number 9. Paraphrasing the reporter, "Yes there is one dead, he's a little bit behind me..."

Good Morning Lodge!

Off to a conference. I haven't had to think about anything professional in months. My brain will be drooling by noon.

(cue Lodge gutter comments)

Good morning Lodge. On my flight to DFW, connecting to OKC, where the wind comes rushing down the plain. Or whatever. Hoping the weather there is nicer than here. I packed for that. No screaming babies that I've seen. Or heard. #smallvictory
