Coworker's kid was hit while riding a bike... According to articles he was med-flighted to DC children's hospital.

I'm fairly close to this coworker so it's occupying my mind

Legally dead :(

I suppose I thought it'd be more a severe scare and back running around in a few months hauling his father off to some soccer tournament.

I don't have a shirt and tie that fit... I'll have to go to mens wearhouse.

I view young innocent death as a stolen future. The coworker and I are semi-close. I view him basically as a workplace big brother. I've known him since my internship in 2008. I've relied on him for various things at work and we'd discuss his kid and recollect over my own personal past as well as his.

I can't even imagine... He'll have to buy a burial plot and the whole nine yards. i don't even know how to relate to him now... But having been through my own mess and trauma I wish I could be of help. Not sure that I can.

Blah... And I actually got into work not just on time but an hour and a half early.

This is tough. SO sorry. You relate by telling him you feel so overwhelmed thinking about it that you can't imagine what he is feeling. Then you tell him There are no words except I am so sorry you have to go through this. Then you tell him you would like to help if there is anything you can do.

ANd then you feel very sad.

My MIL died very young, after a lousy chronic illness that gave he terrible symptoms. The priest said something I will never forget. He said that we all mourned and thought of it as all the things the person missed. The person was fine. We were mourning all the things we would miss that they would not be able to do with us.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #184: The 2016 Frozen Four

The move to our new digs has been slated, roughly a month from now, and it's happening by emptying our current location by floor; each floor will have its own week to move to the new location. Since I'm the only person on my team on this floor, I have to spend a week at the new place before the rest of my team will be there. First, I've openly remarked on my dislike of the new, overly sterile environment that strips us of all privacy at our desks, and second, it's yet another week where I'm isolated from pretty much everyone. Now, I'm a man who likes to spend some time alone, but it's amazing how much I miss in the office by not having my team anywhere near me. The discussions going on to which I'm not privy yet everyone else acts as though it's common knowledge. It's irritating to say the least.

Okay, I'm done griping.

s'upp y'all

And I am very, very blessed ot be sitting here. Lots of people never get this kind of opportunity

mookie lived on virgin gorda for 6 glorious months a long long time ago. slept on the deck of a boat while in yard. woke up and worked on the boat. then hung out at a bar with the locals and the brits who moved there to work. then stumbled back to the yard and climbed about.

Well, just got news that my bro is engaged (no solid marriage plans yet). It was time to figure out the long-term plans, being my bro is a widower w/kids, and she's a divorcee with kids (and a grandchild; yes, she's the "hot grandma" a la "40 Year Old Virgin" ;) ). There was pushback on him dating "so soon" after his wife died, but it was purely coincidental. He wasn't looking, it just kind of happened. Met at a charity event.

I'm very happy for him, and she is a good woman. What a whirlwind week (had other trivial news overall, but big news in the way of some childhood friends that have known each other for 35+ years).

If some of the computer weather models I'm seeing turn out to be true, you may see the ultra-rare TwitchCON 1.

Looking like Denver will be too warm and we'll just see rain, but if enough cold air shows up...they're saying 3 feet of snow in April. Not even Houghton pulled that on me.

If it makes you feel better, in Anchorage it was 50 today and I was able to ref a high school soccer game outside because the snow melted. :)

This place is amazing. And I have never in my life seen more drinking, even at a frat party. Mother of pearl. Yesterday went to the beach- the bartender was serving shots gratis. No chocolate milk :( but she gave me a shot of pineapple juice because she didn't want me to feel left out :p
It is really beautiful here! Yesterday went to a beach. Saw turtles poking thier heads out of the surf. Supposedly getting close to the time they come out and lay their eggs. The turtles head was HUGE! Like in the size of a liter bottle. Can't imagine what the rest of the thing was
Good Morning Lodge!
