Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

iTunes has become a serious fustercluck. I have about 200 UnfairPlay DRM-protected files from prior to 2009 that I am trying to figure out how to break out of iJail without burning a bunch of CDs and ripping them back to MP3, and without paying $40+ for software I will only use once. None of the freeware solutions from back in the day work anymore, because the developers no longer work on them and Apple naturally rewrote a bunch of stuff in iTunes 12 to stop them from working. And people wonder why I got away from this effing evil cult of a company and switched from the iPhone 5 to a Note 4. Unfortunately, my entire music library is still in iTunes because I haven't found a comparable replacement for that yet.

I question this wording...

I never touched iTunes, never will touch iTunes.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

It was cool back in the day when having an iPod was cool. So, 2005 or so. :p

It steadily became bloatware. Then came smartphones that doubled as your MP3 player, so you didn't need that as a separate item anymore. But I stuck with it because my first smartphone was an iPhone. Then, it came time to get rid of Apple because I realized their products were stale and inferior, and *shocker* it turns out that's easier said than done when you've been boxed into their world for a decade.

I just ended up buying an MP3 player with a crapload of storage (about 3000 songs worth) and use Amazon for music (although I don't buy much music anymore). I'm still a fan of a physical product (CDs nowadays) and usually Amazon gives you the MP3s for free with a purchase like that. Download to my comp, transfer to player, boomdone.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

So on Christmas Eve my son, a couple nephews and I were trying to figure out the most unintentionally funny movies. I can't remember the whole list since we killed most of a bottle of Jameson that night but here is what I remember.

1. Robin Hood (Kevin Costner version)
2. Twister
3. Twilight (I haven't seen but one of them was forced to go with his gf)
4. Star Wars Eps. 1,2, & 3
5. Ghost

Others?

As an FYI the conversation started with my son telling his cousins about Mystery Science Theater 3K. He had not seen or heard of it so we were watching some episodes around Thanksgiving.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman's best work :D

I first saw this and started to ask, "But what about (x)?" Then I realized, everything I thought of, he did well, despite how crappy the movie was. MAYBE "Scent Of A Woman" might qualify, but that's really stretching it.

Good Morning Lodge.

Sitting in my sweats watching TV. No work till Wednesday, but lots of errands today. And getting ready for the storm of the century of the week.
