Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Afternoon.

5 day weekend starting Thursday. Already did Thanksgiving dinner last weekend. So no responsibility for the actual holiday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

11 days off after tomorrow. And hockey the next two nights.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

I still have a day of work tomorrow, but my brain is already on vacation. Have an early flight on Turkey day (leaving my house at 4:30 am), but should be to Houston around 10 am Central time. :) I haven't seen my brother and his family since Christmas last year, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Also exciting, Mom, sister-in-law, nieces and I are going wedding dress shopping (and possibly flower girl dress shopping) on Sunday. Originally my silly mother had scheduled the appointment for Saturday, at noon, during the UM vs. aOSU game. Luckily my brother informed her of the mistake and she rescheduled.

Is it Thanksgiving yet?

All shopping done, pie crusts done, soup done, fresh bread for breakfast baking (made a plan white loaf yesterday for stuffing, loaf today is half whole wheat/half AP flour that I make weekly for toast for breakfast). Forgot that I scheduled an apartment viewing this afternoon, so I am off to Westford shortly to look at a converted mill that is now lofts. Just have to make dinner (pasta carbonara) and mushroom soup when I get home.

Enjoying a glass of wine before I do anything more though.

For JJ, I really can't hate the Stars anymore. Yeah, they're a divisional rival now, but all the Norm Green group is gone by now and there are way worse organizations out there in the NHL to dislike. The Stars have never intentionally gone out and tried to build a goon force like some have, they play a skilled style and have some good guys on their club.
I never really got into the Stars until well after the move and Green had sold the team anyway. The Stars just had my favorite players: Belfour, Hull, the Hatchers, and of course Modano. Plus, being from Alaska there really is no nearby team (except Vancouver, just no) kind of gave a wide range of choices. And to be frank, the fact that the Stars ruffle feathers among Minnesotans was a plus.

The Stars aren't the most hated team but there is a little lingering resentment over a) Norm Green and b) "NO GOAL!"

I can understand a) but on the other hand the NHL (and all sports) has been chock full of idiot, dbag owners who have done the same. Moving teams is just a * thing though. B) I just shrug off. Even if Buffalo scores in that OT there still would've been a game 7 in Dallas. *shrug*

*Tip of the hat* Nice work, Dad!

Scarlet - saw your rep. Absolutely interested.

I may have to buy a couple tickets to Beautiful the Carol King musical. Mrs is a fan and it's been a while since we've done something like that. Best available on Saturday are $155 each for a pair on main floor row L.

One more day of work (until a day off; I DO work on Fri). Yesterday was hell at my building. Today was fine until TCF Field decided to order all their paper towels/TP/etc for this weekend's game. 8 pallets worth. Ugh. Tomorrow has to be better, because it can't get much worse, relatively....

Great choice. Today would have been Donald "Duck" Dunn's birthday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Good Morning, Lodge!

I have tons of stuff to do at work today, but given that it is a day before the holiday I will have it all finished by noon. Then spend the afternoon writing down items that I have to remember to pack for the puddle jumper flight tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to getting up at 4am.
