I use a sleep management app that involves setting the phone on my mattress so it can track my sleep state and hold the alarm until I'm coming out of a sleep cycle. When I set the alarm, the phone automatically silences. I throw it in airplane mode just to be safe (it used to do it automatically, but it can't on newer versions of Android.)
our cat is my sleep management app. He won't let me sleep while he's hungry, which is usually between 4 and 5 am.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

I've missed some important family issues by putting my phone on airplane mode when I sleep (day or night - my brother's hospitalizations as well as the death of my grandmother last Christmas - tough messages to receive over voicemail). My phone stays on "Do Not Disturb" (android) so that the only people who can get through are family and the hospital. The hospital is merely a formality as at my previous job (in the Emergency Room), we had the potential for surge (especially in the winter) from a large highway accident. I'm still trying to get the vibe for the new place (ICU) if I keep them on the list.

Waiting for FedEx to deliver my shipment of Lifx bulbs. This should come close to making 80% or so of my home lighting controllable from anywhere.

I did end up saying "no"

I actually have plans for today (Friday). I was dreading them a bit as I was supposed to work until 7am - really 8am by the time report and documenting is done (haircut at noon, concert in Boston at 8). I was planning on being exhausted for these activities, so when I was offered the opportunity to leave early on Thursday in exchange for Monday, I was excited - so the idea of going back to being exhausted for these events was totally unappealing.

This seems to be a chronic issue at the new place - same as the old place. The staff was supportive and I only had to stay until 2345 to wait for my replacement - then report, handoff, and a 45 minute drive in the pouring rain. Worth it though to chill this morning. When I took this job, I made a pact with Matt that I would make much more of an effort to put us first (rather than the hospital) and not work a billion hours a week.

I actually prefer text to them calling at 11am in the middle of my sleep during the day.

Sounds like healthcare... :(

Indeed.

Resting this morning - ended up not going to bed until 0125 this morning, but woke up with the husband at 0600 this morning. Have spent the morning deciding what style to do with my hair, how much redder I can make it without looking ridiculous, and relaxing. Plan still is haircut, then making bread, then dinner (shrimp scampi), then concert in Cambridge with the hubs.
Good for you. I can assure you 6 months from now you would still remember and no one would be grateful that long.

Hockey tonight. Yay. Might come home blinded. The new thing is to have swirling spotlights during introductions. We are playing the golden globe helmets. Man are those things ugly and foolish looking.

Laughing at this because I just read Tsongas lost power and lights are out there.

Heading to the *HT. I'll take an espresso martini please.

We've got an entire *H section of the bar here in Ann Arbor (at a watch party with the Dekers club).

I dislike opposite girl when it's against my team

No hockey tonight (or this weekend, for tArrogance). I am going to the Wild game tomorrow night. Buddy has a suite, so I got an invite. It's probably about the only seats/area I HAVEN'T sat in over the years. Should be fun.
