I did end up saying "no"
I actually have plans for today (Friday). I was dreading them a bit as I was supposed to work until 7am - really 8am by the time report and documenting is done (haircut at noon, concert in Boston at 8). I was planning on being exhausted for these activities, so when I was offered the opportunity to leave early on Thursday in exchange for Monday, I was excited - so the idea of going back to being exhausted for these events was totally unappealing.
This seems to be a chronic issue at the new place - same as the old place. The staff was supportive and I only had to stay until 2345 to wait for my replacement - then report, handoff, and a 45 minute drive in the pouring rain. Worth it though to chill this morning. When I took this job, I made a pact with Matt that I would make much more of an effort to put us first (rather than the hospital) and not work a billion hours a week.
I actually prefer text to them calling at 11am in the middle of my sleep during the day.
Sounds like healthcare...
Indeed.
Resting this morning - ended up not going to bed until 0125 this morning, but woke up with the husband at 0600 this morning. Have spent the morning deciding what style to do with my hair, how much redder I can make it without looking ridiculous, and relaxing. Plan still is haircut, then making bread, then dinner (shrimp scampi), then concert in Cambridge with the hubs.
