Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

I left Camp Hill, PA about 1:10 to head to BWI. About 30 minutes on the road, I noticed the sky behind me was really dark. Then one of those Emergency Broadcast things came on the radio warning of severe weather. I seemed to be ahead of it. Or so I thought.

It did rain on and off, then looked bright. Then somewhere around the Hunt Valley area the sky got really dark and them boom! Ridiculously heavy rain. It was awful. I almost pulled over. Wasn't going more than 10mph. Once I drove thru it, there was a lot of traffic. Not sure if that was the norm for that area that time of day if it was residual traffic from the crazy weather or both.

The 3:15 to Boston took off around 5:45 or so. My flight was on time till about 5:30, then it changed. The one night I need to get home and this happens. Sigh. I have my annual physical tomorrow at 8:30 and I don't want to miss it.

I was wrong. The 3:15 flight's plane just arrived. My flight got moved to the next gate. It hasn't arrived yet. Hoping to be home before 11.

Another storm rolling thru.....plane is here, not boarding though. It's kinda scary looking out there.

3 day weekend! Having lunch with the 'rents tomorrow, getting them to try new stuff. Left on their own (they go out to eat 1-2 times a week), they choose the same bland chains and such.

Dad les is admitted to hosp. Collapse as he, my stepmum and lil were lifting logs to split. Dad les is 84 and I defy you to keep up with him. All looks to be OK but sheesh! Lil apparently was a star. Never a dull moment!

Good morning Lodge.

Best of luck to your dad les.

Oh no les! Hope all is OK!

Here at the doctor for my annual physical. Haven't eaten or had any coffee. I'm crabby. I brought a Carnation Instant breakfast to chug after they take my blood. Appt is at 8:30, got here early but doubtful they'll take me on time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Good luck les. :)

Souptown this weekend!

A group of friends & spouses from my Fr. year dorms are getting together to drink, tell lies, brag about our kids (many of whom are older than we were when we met  ), and for many of them wonder where the hell all their hair went to or why it's now on their backs. ;) We met/became friends Labor Day weekend in 1985 and one of our buddies recently bought a house on the WI ide St. Louis River just south of the harbor so he and his have a great place to get together. Should be fun. :)

Celebrating my wife's birthday tomorrow. Her actual birthday was yesterday, but we're doing the partying on Saturday. It was supposed to be a surprise, but one of her friends completely, obliviously spilled the beans yesterday. Oh well, at least I don't have to secretive about it anymore. We have a peddle pub reserved for the afternoon, followed by dinner and beer at Surly, and finishing the night at Shout House to watch some dueling pianos.

I'm looking forward to it. Supposed to be great weather, too.

Thanks all! Dad les ended up responding to a med change so more serious intervention on hold. Lil is successfully launched for yr 2. His roommates are cool kids. Had been doing OK but feeling a lot more sad than I thought I would be. It is hard when a kid leaves.

Back to reading Harry Potter. Comfort book.
