Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #174: Spring Cleaning

Morning Lodge.

HHT yesterday. Went to the women's game to watch them punch their ticket to the FF first, then picked up a ticket on the street for the Men's game (Mrs and Jr had our normal tickets). Great end for the Gopher Seniors, four league championships in four years for them, 2 WCHA, 2 B1G! And Doooobie robbed the Blues for another Wild win which I followed on twitter.

Back at the Valspar for the final round. Another beautiful day here, mid 80's and hardly a cloud above the course.

Out of curiosity, how is the area around Target Field? The soccer team there is trying to build a stadium nearby.

To the east and south is downtown Minneapolis and highway exit ramps. To the west and NW is I-94 and light industrial/warehouses. To the immediate north is a section of rundown buildings - old warehouses and failed bars that could conceivably be turned into a stadium, but it would have to be fairly small, matching the local interest in soccer, because on the other side of those rundown buildings is mixed use commercial and multi-family homes. Also, Fulton Brewery is located right next to the rundown area, so the team would not garner goodwill with the locals if they were to force Fulton to either shutdown or move. After all, Fulton Brewery is named after the neighborhood in which it was built.

There are SOME places in DT MPLS that are fun.

we only spent one day in mpls, but that was the longest with the most places visited and widest coverage. days in st paul were concentrated within a sq 1/2 mile of the ice rink. no?

Pretty much. Although Nordeast is a short drive/cab ride from downtown MPLS.

most of the MLS stadiums that have been mostly soccer use have been what about 20,000 or so?

This is supposedly the area their owner bought land for a stadium. It's not supposed to be big, like 20k. I just wondered about the area around it.
