Good morning lodge. Back from breakfast and the hot tub and waiting for the family to rise and shine. Wanted to soak out the kinks from riding a Hummer through the Sonora desert yesterday. You stand and hold onto the roll cage. Got a little stiff.

Make sure to grab one a' them Sonoran hot dogs! Mmmmmmm. Sonoran hot dog.

Exciting news! It's International Waffle Day!

I want to celebrate! Wait, maybe I don't. I don't know, what do you guys think? A Belgian might be a good idea. Or maybe it would be better to go with something a little more tradional. Hmmm... Maybe both? No, that would be too much. Maybe I should just forget the whole thing... or maybe not.

I'm an independent contractor, so I really don't have any incentive to give the government my money until I really have to. No interest free loans them from me. ;)
As a contractor they still expect you to pay estimated taxes quarterly. If you haven't paid them all year, enjoy the fines!

IRS had my return in January. Try to keep up. ;)

I didn't even get all of my forms back until mid-Feb.

edit: still didn't get them done until last weekend. But taxes are easy, just simple calculations, and I just use TurboTax to make it even easier. Took about an hour and a half, and the only reason it took that long is because of my ESPP, where I have to calculate profit for every stock purchase, when I have money taken out of every paycheck to put towards company stock. Its rather tedious.

Every company that's required to give me tax forms does so electronically now. That means they're all ready by January 10, and all I have to do is go print them. I don't know why more companies wouldn't go this route.

Boarding an airplane is the worst. No wait, being squeezed into a middle seat with no leg room for 6 hours is. Along with at least two SBs. Pray for me....shutting down now.

Shouldn't you be experienced enough by now not to get the middle seat for a flight? I saw I had one today and changed it prior.:p

I try to not ever even get a non-exit row/economy comfort seat. If I'm stuck in a regular coach, middle seat...I'm finding a new flight.

It's getting expensive to pay for tickets for families with colicky babies on Scarlet's flights. ;)

When you're flying last minute, it can be difficult to avoid the middle seat.

This. My flight was originally Wednesday and I had a window seat. Changed it Monday to fly out tonight and all they had left were middle seats.

Finally made it to the hotel and am about to fall asleep. I can sleep in a little tomorrow. Yay!

Morning. They finally opened up the Houston Ship Channel for a while this afternoon, so we're up here waiting to go to dock. However, it is just during daylight hours for now, I believe.

This also means less of a chance of paying more at the pump. Things could have gotten pricey if the shutdown continued a couple more days.
