Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Working from home, to avoid all of the silliness going on on the roads this morning. Don't feel like having my commute time doubled or worse. Luckily, I have no meetings scheduled, and I have a project to work on that should keep me busy.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Good Morning, Lodge!

Relaxing at home today. Like I am going to the office today. Not because of the snow, but that I already had the day off. Mr. on the other hand is having fun on the Crosstown. He left at 6:30 this morning and he is only at the Crosstown and 35W. On a good day, that is maybe a 10 minute drive.

Morning Lodge.

Left way early to get in before the roads stopped due to moron overload. Still had a bit of a delay when two cars were pointing the wrong way on the freeway (why don't you turn it around and GTF off the road you moron?). Just got notification (voicemail and email) that Jr's school is closing and going electronic for the day (since all kids have laptops and all teachers have a site designed for info and assignments it makes some sense).

Not sure how the closing impacts hockey tryouts scheduled for 2 PM today.

You do live in Cake-eater land, don't you?

He sends his kid to a private school. In the public schools there, it'd be a laptop and a tablet.

Looking out my doors on this morning of the Snow to End all Snows, there's a dusting on the ground and streets are still perfectly clean. For once, living in Farmington has some benefit. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

My commute wasn't too bad, quick walk across the hall to the home office.
The trip downstairs for coffee took a little longer.

St. Paul schools if rolling out an iPad for every student. I don't see this ending well but I may be able pick one up cheap at a pawnshop. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Probably up to 4-5 inches here. Been snowing since I got up, slowed down for about an hour at 9AM, but it has since picked up again.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

It kills me to read all these snow posts. I'm so not ready for that. It's nice here today. We're getting that cold weather later in the week. Not the snow, though. At least not yet.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Up in NE side it is now freezing drizzle. Told Jr he should go to the rink in spite of all activities being cancelled. They already have the ice, bet they'll let em skate.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Just ran to the mailbox to drop off a Netflix movie. Looks like we're in the 6-8" range now, more snow out there than I thought.

Tomorrow I could be posting here about an epic Scarlet Tuesday. My boss just pulled me into a conference room (since the new office configuration we're in here in the new space meant many offices went away) to tell me she has a gut feeling there are possible significant changes that will be made to our department today/tomorrow. So.....think happy thoughts for me, would you? I don't think we're all going to lose our jobs but I'm a teeny bit anxious.

I'm sure Scarlet will be fine, she is too valuable to them.

The latest Winter Storm of the Century of the week (c) Brent seems to be tracking quite a bit farther north than forecast. Looks like it won't hit me nearly as bad as they claimed.

Thinking happy thoughts for Scarlet.

The weather here is so nice that my boss took the afternoon off, and told the rest of us, "I'm leaving, so you have to stay here".

Had a good weekend. NaSK and I went to a comedy club Friday night and really enjoyed the opening act and the headliner. The "feature" comic had a couple good jokes but was a let down after the guy that preceeded him.

Oh, and I got a letter in the mail that I kind of want to frame. Collection agency wrote to me, "we have reviewed this claim and determined not to continue with the collection. Your credit will not be affected." :) I wrote them to argue the claim and that I refused to pay Comcast for a modem they never provided nor the late fees associated with my refusing to pay the modem rental fee. A total of ~$100. I'm pretty happy about that, and the internet provider I have now cost $40 less each month. I do not miss Comcast nor their lack of customer service.

I read this at first as stating that the storm was named Brent. :)

I thought you were ok since you didn't work the soccer thing...

Either way good luck

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Thanks all. Not sure what to expect when I get there tomorrow.

Got home to find my building in the dark. No power at all, but just my building. I guess a fuse on top of a utility pole that feeds the building blew. The National Grid guys sitting in the parking lot said they were waiting for a couple of bucket trucks. I thought the guy said ****ing trucks - heh. Anyways, they won't arrive till about 8 and they don't expect power back till about 9.

I walked to a nearby Boston Market. I have chicken marinating now in my fridge that will have to wait till tomorrow. I think I'll go shopping. I was planning to watch many shows on my DVR. Grrrrrrrr.

Now there is a positive change, after I multiquote, I don't have to remove the check mark. :)
