Okay, you're off on thus one. Gladiator was outstanding.

Parts of it were great. I did see the extended director's cut, so that may have made a difference (FTR, if there is a director's cut, I ALWAYS see that version).

Is it just me, or is auto insurance pretty much the least logical and least fair racket out there? I have a spotless driving record, I'm almost 27 years old with a good job, and I drive a reasonable mid-size sedan, yet because I have testicles, I'm not married, and don't have a mortgage, I still get bent over for a rate increase.

Yeah, definitely shopping this around.

Ditto, but after 30 the price drops. And vehicle age. I'm paying about $80/mo with a risk-vehicle, single male, clean record.

Here's the kicker - I had heard that the 'magic age' was 26, and my previous two six-month payments appeared to be giving that theory weight, even though the decreases were small. Then today I got the advance notice that they were upping my rate for the first half of 2014 by $50, which is more than the first premium that I paid when I bought the car.

Another lesser factor that annoys me is that I have basically the best credit I could have for someone my age, and always pay in full, on time. I even pay the six-month lump sum for the slight discount.

Was never a big fan of Rudolph; I like Frosty the Snowman and Year Without A Santa Claus.
I used to love the Norelco shaver coming over the snowbank (reference that will sail by most of the folks in the Lodge as they are too young to remember). I love the Silver and Gold song.

I am a >50 with boobs but have 2 sets of testicles, one under 20, on our insurance. hooya. it hurts to have testicles.

13-1 victory in game 1. Man was East bad.
Congrats coach!

Not as big of a racket as health insurance though. I imagine the insurance companies have some data showing that single males are more of a driving risk for them. I guarantee they have no data that shows that men can get preggers.

There's another rate drop at 36. Given that people are "staying in their youths" longer, they might have moved back the risk pool for young drivers. Also, if there's been an uptick in the number of instances in your state which will also impact your rates even if you're doing things the right way. Talk to an insurance broker that works with multiple insurance companies; it's in their interest to find you the cheapest rates available. There are some websites that do the same, too.

Not most of the Lodge, I remember the commercial very well and a number of us around here are near my age. Norelco might have even made an update on it, but that could have been a parody I'm remembering.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Morning, Lodgrz.

Kid that lived in my dorm invented a drink called "green death." It was powdered Gatorade mix, Wal-Mart brand Mountain Dew, Wal-Mart brand Dr. Pepper, Red Bull, lemon juice, and if the mood called for it a nip of scotch. This stuff had the consistency and color of pond sludge. I took one sip and heard the Popeye theme from on high for the next hour.

Dr. Thunder!

13-1 victory in game 1. Man was East bad.

We got beat in our first game 13-4, and our guys did great.

Coach, you'll love this: Five of their goals came directly off a center ice face-off. Center wins face-off and skates in a straight line with puck to the net, BAM, goal in five seconds. Five times! Fantastic!

So we will continue discussions with the team on the general concept of being ready to skate / not be flat-footed / not waiting around to see what the other guy is going to do. And obviously all goals count the same -- but looking beyond this simple-to-fix issue, you take away those five goals, we played a better team to an 8-4 loss. They're starting to know what to do, and it's cool to see.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

PS -- Their coach is probably on some other board, talking about how three of our goals only happened because of dumb mistakes his guys made. "Heck, take those away, they only scored 1 on us!" :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Ugh, two awful mornings in a row... At least I can make it to work today.

One day at a time and all that... I'd like to wake up without stress and get my butt out the door.... Just one of these days.

Morning Lodge.

Told ya.

Did anyone rail on you for "running up the score?"
Haven't heard any complaints yet. My theory is this; these kids have worked their entire lives to be the best that they can be. Why should we let off the gas and create bad habits? Isn't it more embarassing when a team is passing around and toying with the you?

Varsity game 1 tonight. Should be a blow out again, but im excited to finally play another team!
