Nobody even mentioned Shot! :p ;)

Heh.

Lil just got home from running the local Turkey race. He was supposed to go run a training run at 7 min pace. One of his buddies was running it seriously He arrives home, is chatting away and I ask who won. "Oh, me." I said what happened to letting X win? "well, I asked if he wanted to cross together or race the last little bit and he said race." Came home with a cert for free pair of shoes and a 2 TB passport. I shake my head.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Made it to Milwaukee in one piece. There is a very long rant about my trip that I will spare you because it is the usual information when driving any where in the state of Wisconsin.

Oh and Happy National Fat Man Day! Go Packers!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

I'm with you les. Growing up, Christmas season started after the bird was gone. Around here, some people had Christmas lights up a month ago! Not to mention the stores started their Christmas displays before Halloween. It's become way too commercialized for me. Don't even get me started about all those tools that will actually be Christmas shopping later today...
A number of people put up their Christmas lights just after Halloween. Most of them don't light them nightly then, but they do get them installed. It makes sense around here, though, seeing as how the weather has a great chance of turning nasty during November. If you're waiting until after Thanksgiving Day in MN, you're expecting adverse conditions.

As to the shopping, well, that's just sad. There's a good chance those people have to be eating now in order to be ready for the start of their shifts. Thanksgiving dinner my ***.

Agreed.

Our plans were to get our trees next week sometime. However, the owner of the place we purchase our trees called to inform me the trees were selling like hot cakes and if we waited there might not be much of a selection remaining. W t f.

Furthermore, kids Xmas shows have been playing for about a week now on TV. W t f x2.

Me and the boys rang bells for Salvation Army last weekend. Great cause but a little early IMHO. W t f x3.

The g family keeps it pretty basic on the holidays. We don't get caught up in the hype. To those that do.......you can bite me. ;)

I can understand the getting them up part... but I'm talking about full-blown, keeping-up-with-the-Jones neighborhood displays.

Way too early for that. Once the turkey is out of the over, you can do whatever you want.

The shopping? Well, sorry, but that's just corporate greed. It's all about $$$ to the retailers. Do you think any of them care if you're happy on Christmas morning? If so much of their annual sales are based on the holiday shopping season, maybe they need to find smarter marketing people to get us to spend our money in June!

A few local retailers have decided that they will not open on Thanksgiving nor will they be open super early on Black Friday. I will go out of my way to support that way of thinking.

My sister in law runs a retail store. She has to go in today sometime to "turn over the store and make it festive". Then, she has to get to the store by 3 am to get ready to open by 4. W t f x4

When I first read her post I read "old whiney whore." :) (Sorry les no offense. :) )

Happy Thanksgiving y'all. Thankful for all of you.

Low key family meal here in a bit, then off to Nebraska for the annual Black Frday game.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Yes it has.

Mil made a good meal. Except she put raisins in the stuffing. W t f x6.

My only w t f is this football game. Can't remember the Pack getting their arses whipped this bad in a long, long time.

If it can't be us though, better the Lions than the Bears or Queens.

Meal was awesome and the best thing were the baked mashed yams. Reminds me of St Thomas as they had those as a side a lot. Ours were better though.
