When did you become a sccc fan? Congrats to you and your cousin. When's the wedding? I kid. I kid. ;) :p :D
Haaardy haaar haaar...:p

Apparently, I'm helping my brother move more stuff tomorrow morning. He's really bad at this advanced notice thing.

Heh.

Lil just got home from running the local Turkey race. He was supposed to go run a training run at 7 min pace. One of his buddies was running it seriously He arrives home, is chatting away and I ask who won. "Oh, me." I said what happened to letting X win? "well, I asked if he wanted to cross together or race the last little bit and he said race." Came home with a cert for free pair of shoes and a 2 TB passport. I shake my head.

the problem is

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Just watched A Muppet Family Christmas, which is a long standing family tradition although the older boy bailed.

Such a great Muppet special. Quite possibly my favorite Christmas video/movie.

I see there's a Lady Gaga & the Muppets special tonight. Have MAJOR doubts about this, but might record it just in case.

We're a Muppet household... :)

It was basically an infomercial for Lady Gaga. The muppets have really whored themselves out in the last few years. Can we have a movie where the celebs are cameo only or well disguised (Michael Caine as Scrooge).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Happy Thanksgiving. Family was here and is now gone. Lots to talk about, most of which was like the Roman Senate scene in History of the World: Part I: "Bullsheet, bullsheet, bullsheet." ;)

The most melodramatic part of the whole evening was my cousin, who is about to graduate high school and is plenty sharp enough in math to study engineering, "whispering" to me on the way out that she doesn't really want to go to college, and it's her mom that's insisting she do it. She's looked into both U of Iowa and Michigan Tech for geological engineering, but told me she really wants to go into music and production, and thinks she can do that without a degree. *facepalm* *sigh*

yeah, that sounds like a terrible idea. I can see not wanting to be saddled with an engineering job if you don't like it... but that stuff can be done on the side during school anyways. At least go for something that co-mingles well and leaves an out if it falls through like marketing or something. Sure, that's not math intensive but there are other ways to travel through life.

---

Sounds like there are other issues there. Especially if its become rock science or nothing.

---

I know a school with a solid music program ;) I'll buy the jersey. Seriously though, Lowell's music program has always had a side where they have to take calculus and physics. If that's REALLY her thing... i mean, christ, don't leave yourself in a useless lurch, whatever you do! Plenty of ways to weave engineering or math and music. Produce records though? Eh... I should mention a bunch of my sister's delusions through the years.

For some reason I can't link to it, but I urge you to go to www.buzzfeed.com and click in the Thanksgiving feud article. I'm still laughing. A TV producer was on a flight today with this *****y woman and he tweeted it as it was happening. His last tweet was that the woman slapped him when they landed.

I assume you mean this one?

Didn't end up watching or recording it.

I can't think of anything that they've done recently (last 15-20 years) that I've liked. The wit, charm and double entendres of the original series and early movies is not to be found in the new stuff and that's what made the Muppets so enjoyable for adults to watch with their kids.

Good Morning Lodge

I'm nearing Nebraska.. This type of thing is normal here.
Well, yeah, you're still in Iowa.:p

ETA: Jr went skating on the pond yesterday. Nice ice right now. Only problem with no snow is, when he misses the net, the puck goes a looooong way, and generally ends up in the cattails somewhere.

Yes, too funny!

Yesterday was a lot of fun. We had a lovely and delicious turkey dinner at the restaurant at the hotel. Glad we really didn't go out as it was really chilly and we were wiped. We didn't do anything afterwards. Just kinda crashed in the room. We were both asleep by 10.

Up and out today. We're having breakfast now then heading over to NBC for the studio tour. Then we're going back to Times Sq to try and get same day tickets to a show for tonight.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Today is my first day in the office this week and concentration is as within my reach as is a golden unicorn. I need to write a management letter and completely change/fix something I started last week. Fun stuff. Add to that, the hours are just creeping by with only me and two others from my department in the office today. The two others from my department reside on the opposite end of the floor from me, too.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

My headphones conked out on me at work. One earbud doesn't work anymore at all. There's a skeleton crew in the office and I'm in musical hell. Is it Tuesday still?

Really having a moral struggle right now. I want to get a tablet, because I now have free wifi with Southwest due to becoming A-list Preferred, and I could use that gate-to-gate. However, I really don't like the idea of going out into the mayhem and complete CharlieFoxtrot today will be at any box store.

In my experience, when I worked retail through high school and college, it's now after noon and therefore you shouldn't have an issue with busy lines. Also, you could likely order online and get the same deal with most retailers.
