Afraid that the bucket of brine with the turkey in it will freeze on the porch or in the garage.
Won't the salt keep it from freezing?

Or, you could do like my wife does. The turkey sits in a big bag of brine, which sits in a big bucket, which sits in the tub!

Good morning Lodge.

Have any of you played or know about the game called Ticket to Ride?
Ticket to Ride is a fun game with enough strategy to be playable even as an adult. The train pieces that are used to make a route could cause problems for little g though. The train pieces are about the size of the ships in battleship, and a misstep placing them could scatter the whole board and be very frustrating.

Good Morning Lodge.

A little worried about brining the turkey tonight. It's not usually this cold on Thanksgiving eve. Afraid that the bucket of brine with the turkey in it will freeze on the porch or in the garage.

I would think in the garage and with the salt content it should be fine.

Note to self. Do not bake while not fully awake. Wrong temp. First pecan pie crisped to disaster level. Apple pie in the oven. Pecan pie 2 will be in the oven next. Not only that but the pie filling dripped on my finger and I have a lovely and painful 0.5 cm raised blister right where my finger bends. OWWW!!111!1!!!!!

The overnight temp will get down to around 15 degrees tonight. We're getting winter temps here already. The salt will only help so much.

On the flip side of this, I bet we can skate on our pond tomorrow. I bet we have 2" really good ice on it minimum. No snow cover and plenty of cold, clear nights has built it fast.

Who is up for a half-time pond hockey game instead of football game tomorrow?

Greetings from the bus on the Mass Pike. Lots of wins swept rain earlier but seems to have calmed down a bit. Made it to the bus terminal in South Station without too much hassle. Bus departed a few minutes early. We should be in NYC around 2:30-ish. Traffic seems OK for now. I may take a nap.

Use a cooler with a little ice in it and just leave it inside somewhere.

That just sounds unpleasant!!!

Grumble!!! I forget Onyx is an early to rise dog. He gotta get up early and go burn off some energy. Mine, they usually don't mind sleeping in til whenever I get up.

Happy Thanksgiving eve, lodgerinos.

To any of you BU fans wondering about your team's chances against Cornell this weekend: Our back-up GOALIE is scoring at a clip of 1 goal per game, career average. Scoring, not GAA. Rumor is he'll be starting the remainder of the season to help kick-start the team's offense, and coming out of the crease to man the point on the powerplay. BU shouldn't even bother to show up at MSG. :p

Wrap in multiple quilts/newspapers or other stuff to insulate

Yes. It managed to look like a very large appendage for awhile and then popped, with some vigor. Ew. Much more comfortable now. Successful pie #2, Apple pie #2 is going in soon. Sweet potatoes are currently in the oven. Then I am pretty much all prepared except the setting of the table and cleaning up a bit. Mr les gets to peel the carrots.

I saw this. How do you top that?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Well now you tell me. I'm stuck on this bus headed down there. What do I do now??? ;
Go to plays.

I have great memories of my trip to NYC last Thanksgiving. It was based around hockey at MSG vs. Cornell, but that turned out to be a low point. We got in Friday morning and left at 7 am Sunday. We were there fewer than 48 hours and still managed b-ball & hockey @ MSG, 2 Broadway musicals, and a bunch of sight seeing. I wish I was doing that again this weekend.
