Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Sun's out, roads are clear, yet I got a snow day!!
Just talked to someone right outside of Logan and he said they were predicting the end of the world but only got about 4". He did say it was worse to the south and I guess the Cape got slammed.

We ended up with about 8" here. To the east of us they got a foot or more so I'm not complaining. And it was the best snow to have if you need to shovel... very light and powdery. I could have used a broom to clean my deck/stairs.

Chasing a girl is a valid reason to go Watch the Gophers I guess. Is it the same girl all the drama was about earlier, or a different one? Just around the corner from where you parked had lots of open, on-street parking.
This is a new one. I miss the old one a lot, and think about her frequently, but understand I deserve to be treated better than how she had all summer. I told her I'm not going to deal with her half *** effort and wanting me to be there until she was ready.

Isn't Logan the end of the world? ;)

Mankato public schools are out early today..for what seems like the billionth time this winter, they're not in school due to the weather. It's frustrating as we prepare for games virtually every other day, because when school is out, we can't practice. This is Minnesota; it's cold out and there's a little snow blowing around: life goes on as normal.

A little update on our team...

We're currently 15-2. Our 2 losses are by one goal, and one was to a team, IMHO, that doesn't belong in the same conversation as us. Credit to them for outworking us, though, as our guys didn't ever match their relentless effort.

About 10 games into the season, I was asked to be on the bench for varsity games, running our defenseman; It's been a success and I helped make a key adjustment when we got in some penalty trouble that our head coach was happy to have on the bench. Ever since i've been cemented in. It's been an amazing experience so far, and I'm looking forward to the rest of our season. Not to get ahead of ourselves, as we must take care of business first to get there, but how awesome would coaching hockey games at Xcel Energy Center be?

I sit back and look at how blessed I am to be in this situation; I'm 21 years old, a full fledged varsity assistant in the State of Hockey.

Too bad you had that tight one with the cross town rival last night. Glad you were able to squeak it out. ;)

So who has the JV now? And congrats by the way, also good luck with the new girl.

I'm going to have to start looking for a new job soon. We had a team meeting today, and my manager told the team that one person's promotion to a newly created level within the team is really a boon for us all. Never mind that this guy is his hand-picked yes-man. Ugh. This used to be a job that excited me, too.

Good evening Lodge.

Currently -12 but it feels like -38.

Quite the blizzard today. We have had about 7 inches of light fluffy snow over the past few days. The temp dropped and the wind picked up today. My driveway was nasty with drifts 3 to 4 feet deep the entire length of 300 feet or so. Had to park on the road and then I had to carry little g (not so little anymore) over my shoulder to the house.

Since the second one is a hockey player, odds are you're doing better than the first one, assuming she wasn't. ;)

Good for you.

Not that cold here, but US-31 was shut down due to poor visibility, accidents, and slide-offs.

Quite honestly, we were phenomenal offensively but lacksidascical in the neutral and defensive zones still. It was 7-0 after one.

Appreciate the well wishes from you, as well as the others. The old one was a soccer player here, not a hockey player.:p

I'm still the head JV coach, and have been really working to develop fundamental skills such as skating, passing, stickhandling, and shooting, rather than systems. It's fun on gamedays because I get to coach two games, with the JV being a little bit more relaxed with less stress on the outcome, more stress on improving.

My role as a varsity assistant has just kind of blossomed as the year has gone on. I run some drills in practice, i contribute drills and ideas to our practice plans, and most importantly, I've earned the trust of our guys that I understand the game at a high level and they believe in what I say. It's a path I knew I'd take, but didn't expect it this quickly.

Morning Lodge.
Frikin wussy schools closed again for cold. I kinda understand the public schools for the kids who have to wait at bus stops. But for the private that my kid goes to the kids waiting for the bus are sitting in an idling BMW or Escalade.

Why bother when you are 80 yrs old? :D

C'mon - 71 and 73. Lots of time left to find the right mate...not sure why it takes 40 years to figure out you're with the wrong one though...
