Good evening Lodge.

I think I might have failed as a father. I asked little g if he would like to go watch a college hockey game in the very near future. I assumed we were on the same page regarding going up to Bemidji to watch BSU. Little g responded with "I can't wait to go to Mariucci!" Where did I go wrong? ;)
This is border line grounds for calling Child Services..

Throat hurts like hell and I cannot fall asleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long one.

Says the closet Gopher fan who drove up to the Cities, missing a home Maverick game, to see the Gophers play outside last Friday. :p (and paid $20 to park about a block away from where I parked for free)

I thought brainwashing kids into liking your favorite sports teams was easy. I haven't tried it personally, but my parents seemed to figure it out, since my brother and I were raised far, far away in Maryland but as huge Michigan fans. My foolish uncle somehow convinced his daughters to be Sparty fans. I've even seen little * uckeye fans running around, which, clearly, no child would choose to be on their own.

She actually gave it to me for ten bucks, and I had been looking for a spot to park for at least 20 minutes...:p I've been seeing a girl on the Women's team and thought that'd be a solid excuse to head up and see the outdoor games..It was a pretty cool experience; they need to have North Dakota/Minnesota outdoors. That would be a sight to see.

I have yet to see a good game that's played outdoors. For all the great nostalgia, which really gets lost when you're in a football stadium, outdoor rinks make for bad hockey. All too often the ice is either too cold or too warm to make for good hockey conditions. No more of that, please. If you want outdoor hockey, play in a pond hockey tournament.

Teams have also learned to start adjusting for crappy outdoor ice by playing a conservative/trap game. When both teams do it, it's awful.

Chasing a girl is a valid reason to go Watch the Gophers I guess. Is it the same girl all the drama was about earlier, or a different one? Just around the corner from where you parked had lots of open, on-street parking.

This. The newbies like it because they think it should be cool. Most people are unexcited after doing it once.

Evening. Went and saw Lone Survivor today. If you haven't seen it yet, it is very much worth it. Very good flick.

Putting the finishing touches on a smoked ham for my final dinner at home for another month. Back to work tomorrow evening.

As for outdoor games: There are way too many. Make it a special event again. However, I would certainly go see another if the interest in teams was there. Maybe I was spoiled at the Winter Classic this year, but the venue was perfect, the weather was almost perfect. Yes, the quality of hockey was diminished a bit, but it still ended up to be an exciting game. JMO.
