Good Morning, Lodge!

So I called it a mile away. We met up with Mr. wore Black's parents yesterday for lunch. They have a friend of the family that they always meet up with. I told the hubby last week that I guarantee that they will be unexpectedly invited to the birthday lunch and as usual, we will find out at the last minute. Sure enough, we are sitting at the restaurant, the in-laws' car pulls in, and there is the friend of the family. At least they didn't bring the 6 year old with. If they did, I would have left. It was at least courteous of the friend to apologize for crashing the birthday lunch.

The reason why my in-laws think their friend and I get along is because we are both artists. News, the types of artists we are hate each other. She is drawing and painting, while I am graphics. They will never learn. [/rant]

Regarding my in laws..............for those of you that have been following, my dad is experiencing some very serious life threatening issues. For the past week and a half or so I have been receiving calls, texts and emails from all kinds of family, friends and others offering their support in many different ways.

I have not received a call or a text or an email from mil, fil or bil. Not that I really care but their silence is deafening.

That could be a good thing. Based on what you've shared here about them, if they did say something it would probably be inappropriate and/or in poor taste.

Hope your dad is getting the care he needs! How are gI and gII responding to this?

They know that grandpa is sick but I have not informed them just how serious things are. Not sure how to approach the subject with them at this time.

My dad is at Mayo. They have been and will be conducting numerous tests on him. Sometime this week (hopefully) an exact diagnosis will be made. It's cancer and its bad. The experts in Hilton Head told me my dad has 6 months. Hopefully the experts at Mayo can figure something out...............

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

still praying for you, gmann.

Mornin' all. Three day week for me as we're leaving early Thursday for Fargo. It's going to be a busy three days, but that will make the time go faster, I suppose.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

well they need you to learn them up girl!!! let slip a "will you stop inviting this ****er to everything!?!?! i hate them!!"

We have said this on numerous occasions, but the main thing is that my in-laws need to stop inviting people to an occasion the other person was not invited to in the first place. They do this all the time and they wonder why we don't attend a majority of events. We know there will be people there that we cannot stand.

Are you sure that my in-laws and your in-laws are not related? They live in a similar area. :o

I am still sending thoughts your way about your dad. Hope the Mayo does something.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

Morning, Lodge-O.

Gosh you guys are prolific. Here are some quick responses for some of my Lodge Brothas:

ericredaxe: Hope you got to sleep!

FlagDUDE08: So you're one of those country guys who can't sleep in the city, eh? :p I used to be like that, then my senior year of college I lived right in Kenmore Square in Boston, so you had six major streets intersecting, a city bus terminal, and Fenway Park outside. After that I can sleep through anything. (Though a 150 degree hotel room is another level of he11.)

walrus: You know it's windy when heat gets sucked out of stove. They're designed to avoid that, man!

Lady wore Black: re: thinking you and the friend should get along because you're in the same field: At least they're sincere, in a naive, clueless way, right? My MIL is like that -- I'm a musician, and a couple of times after seeing a show with them we've met some of the performers afterwards, and she says, "My son-in-law here is a musician, too!" And it's very sweet, but that makes the performer go, "Ah. Really? How about that." And I'm like, "Yup." :o

gmann: Strength to you, buddy; that whole things sucks. But you're right, having him at Mayo means he'll be treated right.

That is the MIL to her own son. "You are a musician? You will get along great with my son." Mr. wore Black rolls his eyes.

Sorry to hear :(

Afternoon lodge. Back to the grind today. Ordered up some old Warren Miller films from Amazon last night to curb the craving for powder for a little while.

No kidding. We're young this year. Four mites playing up, and we just don't have anyone with an attitude. It's been an interesting year, to say the least. We've greatly improved, but a much different team than the one I had last year.

A's had a solid 4-2 win over Eagan Saturday, so hopefully they're ready to go.

Kids had an absolute blast. It was fantastic.
