Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

Got more snow up here than rain, still not too much though, only 6 inches of accumulation. I woke up and saw that it had rained a bit in the night, and decided that I'll just stay home and work from here. No meetings today, and I'll get as much done here as at my desk. May as well not deal with idiots on the road even if it is just slightly slick.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

Our weather was similar to goldy's. Roads weren't terrible though, this morning.

Busy week, hope everyone enjoys theirs.

I'm gonna have a seat at the HHT and savor Quinnipiac's first #1 ranking! I know it's meaningless but it's still a nice accomplishment. Minnesota can have tArrogance... all we want is tSwagger of being #1!

Congrats!

While it means nothing, we've finally cracked the top ten at #9. It's been a long time..and to think we had 12 wins last year..

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

More shoveling today...there's not a lot, but it's the heavy wet stuff and the rain last night certainly isn't making it any easier...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

Good afternoon Lodge.

This ammo shortage is getting out of hand. Seriously Federal/Remington/Winchester/Hornady/etc, get some ****ing rounds on the **** shelves. I have looked everywhere I can think of online and in stores and cannot find a single 9mm target round.
Sounds like the idiotic paranoid masses are busy buying whatever they can find, 'cause they can't live without it. Errrmmmaagawd, Hostess is going out of bussiness, must buy all the Twinkies! Errrmmmmaaagawd gov't is discussing gun control, must buy all the guns and ammo!

Reading the Eastern Bias Blizzard thread. Kind of jealous that we haven't gotten that kind of snow here in Michigan. Lakes could really use that kind of snow to fill em back up, and well, I really want a snow storm where I really push the tractor to its limits in moving snow.
I know. I'd just like a foot of that snow. This a few inches of snow, melt, a few inches, melt cycle is annoying. I want enough snow to play in! (But not 2 or 3 feet, that's too much)

My brother dropped off my parents' old snow blower on Saturday. He had need to get a bigger one, and I can certainly use this one. As of this morning, the plow service still hadn't started working my association. Either it won't come at all because our snowfall levels were technically below the 2" mark (a lot of rain and sleet), or it's taking them an extraordinarily long time to get their jobs done this weekend.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

Had jury duty this past week.

Got my number called on Wednesday, made it an hour before getting selected to a panel. Voir dire took two days and about 40 people. Domestic violence case, no specifics given but apparently the girl came at the guy with a baseball bat at a restaurant and barely nicked him. I was fourth to last called for an interview, and ended up getting seated on the jury.

Reported this morning to start the trial. Sat in the jury room for an hour and a half, then the judge came in and said they were modifying the charges at the last second and to be fair to the prosecutor and attorney they had to dismiss us since they didn't have a chance to question us concerning the new charges. Two days picking a jury, only to throw them out 90 minutes into the trial.

Free for two years.

You came closer than anyone I've ever know to actually being on a jury to deliberate a case. The first time I was called, my group made it into the jury selection room, and I was one of three or four people one not yet to be called up for the selection process. It was for a meth dealing case. This was back in May of 1997, when I was 19. I think they were looking to avoid the young whipper snapper of the jury pool. Since then I've been called back once more, but did nothing more than sit around the room and read a book for the two days I was there.

They shot their load the first day on peremptory challenges and excusing people for past history with domestic violence (DV incidents are a dime a dozen here in Alaska.) By the time they got to me, I think they were just desperate to get twelve people in the box. I actually worked with one of the remaining panel members, and he's a cop to boot. We BOTH got seated.

The tinfoil hatter in me says they didn't like what they ended up with, so they monkeyed with the charges to get a do-over.

Greetings from the lounge on top of Keystone. Just got a call from my boss, and I'm glad I answered, because my raise is finally going through on March 1st! Best. Vacation. Ever. :D

Cool, I remember back when Maine was #1, now Maine is number 58

Just pray you never get called for a federal grand jury.

Had a friend get picked for one. Every Wednesday for EIGHTEEN MONTHS. And they usually tack on a few more months at the end.
