Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #161: Needs More Wub

Sadly I'm not good enough, and don't have a death wish. :)

The ungroomed blacks and double blues off the Norway, Lenawee, and Montezuma lifts were more than challenging enough for me.

It isn't a run that I would ski anymore. It would kill me for sure. But when I lived in Colorado a few of us were skiing A Basin and we decided to ski Palavichinni. One of us (who really shouldn't have been on that run) fell and fell and fell - it was probably a couple hundred yards before he could stop. Every time he got his skis in position to try to stop his momentum flipped him over and he kept falling. Very funny at the time but he was lucky he didn't get hurt. Did you play on the cornice on top?

Evening, Lodge-O.

Or the BU-Lowell hockey game, last regular season game of 1985. No fans. To get in to cover it, you had to produce your birth certificate to get a press pass. It had the famous game note from the legendary Ed Carpenter "There are more donuts in the press box than people." That was the first measles outbreak.

Didn't know that! So BU's been in two measles quarantined games in our lifetimes?!?

Our church dinner was today and it was surprisingly good, usually these taste like glorified school lunches to me. The Boss and I got home and skied around the neighborhood for 30-40 minutes, perfect day for it.

Wish I'd know -- we'd have driven by and thrown snowballs at you. :p

Squirt hockey almost got their 2nd win this afternoon. It was 3-2 after 2, really decent hockey from all sides. But we had all of 9 kids show up, and by the 3rd they were gassed. Lost 6-2. Encouraging, though. :)

Good evening Lodge.

Another rough day with my dad. He hasn't improved much. Still no test results back, hopefully tomorrow. I think i know what the results are gonna be........hope I am wrong. Rescheduled my flight for later in the week as I need to stay and figure things out. If its an option, I will be making arrangements to get him to Mayo.

Bought some fresh shrimp and had a tasty dinner tonight.

Spoke to Mrs. g tonight. Lot's of snow in 320ville. Five foot drift in front of

Best wishes for your dad gmann. Hope you have a good neighbor to plow your family out!

Just kinda sloppy here. Only got a few inches of snow and some light rain. If it had been 6 degrees colder today we'd have a nice pile of snow.

Thanks.

Could you grab a shovel and get in your Subaru and help a brotha out? ;)

Edit. My drive way is only 400' long. If you leave right now you could get it shoveled and be back in time for work tomorrow.

You don't think people in Edina own shovels and do it themselves do you? :p :D

Yes, it was a nice lite cornice for us wussy types. ;)

We did ride up the Pavi lift just to see that face, but bailed back over to the cornice runs. The Pavi chutes would be suicide for us.

Despite the rather brutal weather, I was impressed. It was a rare mountain where, if you aren't at least a strong intermediate, you really don't have any business being there. I'd go back, but I would not make the mistake of making it the first stop again. It's only our second day in Summit Co., and we are not fully acclimatized. I was sucking serious wind in the last hour.

Apparently I'm the only person to not keeping track of the Grammys. Meh. I'd rather spend my time watching some quality movies. Still a wintry mix of rain/snow. Storms like this make me glad I don't commute during rush hour for work.

A Basin is a fun area, but you are right, it is not really a place for any less than a strong intermediate skier. And the top is over 12,000 feet so not a great place to acclimate to the altitude. I would guess you will be skiing Keystone, Copper and/or Breckenridge. They are all fantastic areas - you can ski runs that are easy intermediate runs that are 2 miles long.:D. If you get a chance, go to Winter Park. Its only 40 miles away and one of Colorado's best areas. And Vail is just over the pass. If you are even thinking about it, go there. 4,000 acres of heaven!

Jeeze, sorry gmann. I had jr and the neighbor help me load the snowblower in the Outback and came in to check your address when I learned MNDOT had closed I94. Sorry about that.

Morning Lodge. We only got another 1/2" max last night. Just too much rain and crap so it's kinda slippery out there.

Today we're hitting Keystone. Tomorrow, we transfer down to a condo in Breck, so we will ski that. Also planning on a day at Vail (which I realize one could spend almost a week at). Copper may be in the mix as well.
