Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

See, that wouldn't bother me at all. I'd walk into that house with my arms held wide and proclaim, "Entertain me with your stupid antics!"

It's one thing when people are manipulative and causing issues, like gmann's in-laws, that would drive me insane. But it's another thing entirely when they're just obtuse and just do stupid things; then I'll just sit back and enjoy the show.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

For the most part the antics the inlaws pull are quite humorous. As an example....... fil received an iPad as a birthday gift a few months ago. The g family has two iPads and we have iPhones and the kids talk to grandpa and grandma via facetime. At the time bil did not have any Apple products. As soon as fil recieved the iPad I told Mrs. g that within two weeks her brother would have Apple products because mil/fil would feel bad that they were using facetime with us and not him. Mrs. g said no way. Guess what? Within three weeks bil had an iPhone 5, a 64gb iPad and a Apple laptop. By the way, bil has no job (going on three or four years) and no money. The funny part? When mrs. g asked her parents how bil could afford such things her parents said that he received them from a charity that gives those things away to good people who need a break..........I wonder which charity gave him a offical game jersey of Adrian Peterson a few weeks ago???????

On the flip side, last Christmas the inlaws did not buy our kids any toys for Xmas. Shirts, pajamas and pants. Not that my kids need anymore toys or they are ungrateful but they are kids and were pumped to have Xmas and open toys like every other five and three old. Inlaws did that just to pizz off me and mrs. g. That was low and not very humorous.

Mr. wore Black's grandma talks about how she is going to die soon. 6 years later she is still alive. Just die already! His grandparents have a dog that is not trained to go outside. Instead it goes on hospital mats and love to have an explosive episode while the family is sitting around. Then you have the uncle that is passed out on the floor at noon. Most of the family's diet consists of bloody mary's and brandy. That is just the tip of the iceberg.

He's from Stearns County, right?

I thought the job of grandparents is to spoil the grandchildren. Sorry to hear this...as I am sorry to hear most of your in-law stories.

I feel bad about Christmas presents for my nieces who are now 3 1/2. Every birthday or Christmas my brother asks me to get them more Michigan appearal (they live in Texas). For their last birthday they got Michigan dresses and a couple of cheap packs of stickers. For Christmas this year they are getting shirts and a coloring book. I want to make sure I give them something fun, and at this age I'm sure they'll enjoy the $1 coloring books as much as they would a $30 toys.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

Morning, Lodge. Busy weekend around here, including 10 hours (TEN HOURS!) at a school on Saturday with my kid's Lego robotics team. By 11am all the parents were laughing about how much we were going to drink when we got home; by 3pm it was "when I get home I'm falling straight on the couch; no drinking; I'm not even going upstairs!" :p:(

All right, lots to get caught up on. Here we go:

Went and got a Christmas tree this morning, found it and cut it down in short order, its now up in the living room but not decorated. Its only a 10 footer, short for my house.

It's also short for you, right? (Tall joke)

There were lesbians at the HHT?

Well, there's lesbians, and then there's lesbians. It could very well be  RFalph, but it could also be . (Would :p be too provocative?)

I'll likely be doing some big time flooding to try and get decent ice.

Our league has asked parents to come help flood an outdoor rink. Never done anything like that before. Part of me wants to keep being the guy you can count on to help out however. But part of me wonders if you really, really don't want to spend a few hours at night watering a frozen field.

This upcoming weekend we will be celebrating Xmas at the inlaws. If any of you have a direct link to the big guy upstairs please request a blizzard for late next Friday evening or Saturday morning..

All right, I've put in a word for you. :D

Are they so stupid as to think you wouldn't know who's buying him this stuff or is it their way to tell you to shut up about your wife's idiot/lazy brother?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

Still haven't done Christmas shopping for ANYBODY. I hit it out of the park last year for everybody, so now I'm stuck. Thinking about shipping up some Florida Stone Crab or something, since it is in season.

I'd feel bad for making them wear Michigan stuff too...

I have to keep up with their mother's side of the family dressing them in Texas stuff. They actually like the Michigan stuff, I just think clothes are a boring present.

I'm doing my part to influence them to be wolverines. They already love the band and ask to listen to songs from the band cd (and know that by requesting "Temptation" they get to listen to two songs, since every Michigan fan knows, "you can't have one without the other", the other being "Hawaiian War Chant"). Oh, and my favorite Eleanor quote is, "I don't like Buckeyes". She's a smart kid.

Sister is in the hospital. I think she's about to form babby.

My goal in life is to be the "cool uncle." I wanted to buy the kid an iPhone for her first Christmas just for the lulz.

Believe me. I have a sack. Just ask my wife she has it. :D

I did ask bil if he had incriminating photos of his parents that he was bribing them with.

Bil response - "Why would you ask that?"

g - "Because, you have not worked in a long time and you have no money. However, you somehow manage a way to buy things that are very expensive like Twins season tix and a 2011 new Suburban."

Bil - "so?"

g - "so how the eff can you buy those things with no money?"

Silence..........................

g - (with a smartazz smirk on my face) "either you have incriminating pictures of your parents that you are bribing them with or you sell crack. you tell me."

One of my friends just bought his daughter a .223 rifle for her first birthday. Great present, if you ask me.

So even though Jr was sick, he and Mrs made a Buche de noel (Yule log) for extra credit in French class over the weekend. Made it gluten free so we could eat it. Tried it for dessert tonight, pretty good, but I think the next one will be better.
