I kinda wonder what's with congratulating someone on becoming an uncle. What did I do to earn it? Sister and husband did all the work, I just sat in here with you kooks all day long.

A savings bond doesn't have the lulz that an iPhone would though...
Yeah, at one year old, its just another something for them to drool over. Only the parents would get the lulz from that. Hell, you would just do pretty well getting her the box that the iphone comes in, and put a cookie inside of it.

We put $ in a savings acct that we hold for each of the nieces/nephews. WHen they graduate we give it to them. They have a blast thinking of what they will spend it all on as they are growing and then most of them have used it to afford college expenses. The dreams they have with that money are way more than they would ever have gotten when we buy a thing. (we do give a little something to open)

COngrats Unca Twitch!
That's a pretty good idea right there. Lord knows that they're always going to need pizza and chocolate milk money in college.

Depending on what time the world ends on Friday, and how it comes about, I may survive (at least until the mutants or radiation gets me). As I will be flying most of the day. Have to get up at 3 AM! Ugh!

It's going to end at 12:21:12 PM, and it knows enough to begin at exactly that time in each timezone. Except Arizona. * Arizona.

Wow, a rolling end of the world. I might get to see some of it from the sky then. At least the mountain time zone. Should be cool to see the Rocky mountains crumble.

At least you'll be safe if the cylons attack.

That's what I was actually congratulating you for.

Wow, a rolling end of the world.

One of the stories in Ray Bradbury's "The Illustrated Man" was about that -- no fire and brimstone, just the world ending after you went to sleep. It went the anti-climactic end-of-the-world route. (Can't remember whether Arizona missed out. :p)

How did that work if you didn't go to sleep? If when you sleep you died, then its the end of your world. How were they sure it was the end of the whole world? :)

Isn't it supposed to be exactly on the solstice, whenever that is?

I'm planning to take Friday off. If it's the last day ever, I really don't want it to be here in the office. If it's not the last day ever, I'm treating myself to a color and cut and possibly a manicure on Saturday for surviving the end of days.

Christmas Day is almost here, when it's over then I hear, "I'm glad it's only once a year..."

I HATE Christmas! :D

What's "color and cut"? ;)

My dentist, who drives a Porsche 911 and a BMW, just informed me that he's opting out of my company's Delta Dental PPO effective Jan 1st. Guess I'll be "opting out" of him. :D

That collection also featured a story in which a pair of way-too-smart kids locked their parents in a virtual reality room full of lions. The lions turned out to be real figments of the kids' imaginations, and ate them. ;)

Hopefully I'll have enough time to get to the **** Sheriff's office to apply for a purchase permit tomorrow. **** work is keeping me from getting there on time.
