What he said!

I thought only mailmen got that one off.

Well FIL sat up and had dinner tonight at the hospital.
The Fed shuts down operations for the day, so I must, too. Oh darn.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Good evening Lodge.

Temp hit 78 today. Tomorrow the high is supposed to hit 41 with 30 to 40 mph winds with rain and a chance of snow. I am scheduled to take some clients pheasant hunting tomorrow. Joy.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

I didn't think anyone got Columbus Day off. Seems like a pretty pointless one to have off.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Nah, we just have the two mains, and 2 gens. Very, very few boats have 3 engines, virtually none have more than that.

Who knows if they'll pop out our other engine and replace it with the same model next year for our scheduled shipyard, or if they'll go with a Cat engine. A sister boat of ours had the Cats put in a few months ago for their shipyard.

Flying outta Birmingham tomorrow afternoon, and should be home by 8pm. I couldn't have HOPED for that back up in NY.
Never trust the baby sh1t yellow engines.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Mrs Goldy found out some more. Turns out her dad has a couple more cracked vertebrae lower down as well. Hospital was going to release him until one of the SILs insisted they find him a short stay location for rehab.
Probably the smart thing there. better make sure they have him all put back together, and not have him have something slip and make more of a problem.
Am I the only one that does not have Monday off for the Columbus Day holiday?
When's that, next monday?? Yeah, I'm going to be elbow deep in somebody's glutes that day, so yeah, working it. Not really sure why we would have it off. Not even the first time a European stepped foot in the America's.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Sad thing is, the reason they are putting Cats in is because they literally "got a good deal" from Cat for a silly number of these engines. Pretty much just a disposable engine, swap them out every 5 years or something.
Cat does that alot in certain markets. They apparently can make money and keep customers happy by selling cheap *** throwaways and replacing them frequently. We prefer a different method. When it comes to diesel engines, it starts and ends with Cummins. There is a reason that Cat backed completely out of the NA HD truck market a few years ago...

There's a lot of Cat gensets out there....

The genset market is a different market. And there are very distict segments that have completely different requirements. Cat (and everyone else) will build engines differently for a Standby application than a Continuous application. I expect the standbys are throwaways, but it doesn't matter, because they only run 200 hours per year (EPA regs), the continuous duties would have to be much more durable.
