Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Afternoon, all. Coming to you live from a dead Mankato Golf Club this first Men's Day in October. Three groups on the course. Why I am here is beyond me!

Made chili before I came in though, so I have that simmering at home for the girlfriend and I later tonight. I'm pretty excited for that.

Have any of you eaten chili with cinnamon rolls? Everyone thinks we're crazy for this, but it's an Iowa tradition, as far as I know, and it's delicious.

My dad and girlfriend, both went to Iowa public schools, where this was regularly served for school lunches.

Lots of Calculus homework tonight. Woo!

Got about another hour before leaving Birmingham. Can't wait to fall asleep tonight, just a little sleep deprived.

I tell you, there's something in the water in that state, man. :p

All right, to be fair: Growing up in rural Indiana in the 70s, the only time we ever had bagels was with spaghetti dinner. Toasted in the oven with butter. It was sort of white trash garlic bread. I'd never had them -- or even seen them -- any other way. It was a shock when I got to BU freshman year and saw them serving raw bagels, for breakfast no less. The east coast dorm mates got a kick out of that one. :o

Don't knock it til you try it man!

It's delicious. Everyone I've known has never heard of it unless they have a connection to Iowa. I mean, it's really just a dinner roll with a sweet icing and cinnamon, right?;)

Funny thing is, having seen real garlic bread, living on my own I will split open a bagel and put butter and onion powder on it and throw it in the toaster oven. No sense in getting a whole italian loaf for that.

But then it's an onion roll, not garlic bread.....

Hey shirtlessBob, I'm sure Brent would buy you a beer if you decided to show up at TK's tomorrow night. I think a whole crew of us will be there.

Sittin' here, waiting for this FCH draft to start. Ready to go, even though I'm not sure if I'll have to draft for a no-show. Drinking an Ore Dock. yay.

How about you buy him a beer? Don't go spending my money! Or maybe get one of our bartenders to give him a beer for free?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

returned the dog to the girlfriend today. she's still a bit tore up over the death of her best friend this weekend, but I think she's coming around. seems that she took it better than his mother. Think we about have all of our plans all ironed out for the weekend. She kind of screwed up and didn't her saturday off the schedule early enough, so she currently has two appointments on the books, but she thinks she can get them moved to earlier in the day, thus meaning we can get over to Allendale early enough that we can tailgate some before heckling Big Rapids Community College. ;)

Good evening Lodge.

Just got home and I am bushed. Started pheasant hunting at noon and finished up around 5:30. Then dinner and drinks.

It was very windy with on and off again rain and sleet.

We got a bunch of birds and my clients had a great time.

I have never prepared pheasant. I am going to have to find a good recipe.

So you won't arrive until 10 or later?

I think bbdl, MNS, and I are arriving at TK's at 5ish. Waiting for anyone else (like DX) who is going to the movie, then some will go to the movie, and bbdl will be drafting his fantasy college hockey team at TK's while we are at the movie.
