Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Hola. Packing up and then driving to CNY to fly south for work tonight. Oh how I absolutely love giving up most of my last day off to travel. NOLA overnight, driving to the boat in the AM.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Best wishes to your grandfather 'diva!!!

Happy Birthday GE and Monster!!! Hope it's as lovely a day there as it is here! Sun's out. Nice fall afternoon.

It's quiet here. My boss, her boss and the big boss, along with another 5-10 people are all in NYC for some World Business Forum. My two regular status meetings from this morning were cancelled - yay! It allowed me to do some Friends of Hockey stuff without being bothered. :)

I should go out and buy my parents an anniversary card. It's their 53rd!! No more big or crazy gifts. But a card is still an OK thing. They wanted gifts stopped after their 50th. I'm taking them out to dinner tonight. I made a 5x7 print of two of the family pictures we took in San Diego so she can update the famed picture from our Vegas trip a few years back.

Lunch time!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

'Morning, Lodge.
Those of you that I have on Facebook already saw this, but for those who aren't-- if you could spare some prayers and good vibes, send a few up for my grandfather. He's in the ICU with pneumonia and his heart rate/BP are all over the place and they're not sure what's causing it. The man is tough as nails, but a little divine intervention and good mojo can't hurt.

My prayers too

Heading to bigblue's fav place again for lunch. As long as the weather stays this nice, it's the best patio in that area.

Using the stairs at work... between this and the other things going on I'm kinda exhausted... anybody want to cook my dinner and rub my feet?

I'd really appreciate it :)

Holy hell. A Nashville frozen four MUST HAPPEN.

Next door to the arena is a strip of about 25 bars. All with live music. I've only heard two local bands every in MN that are even in the same league as this first guy just sitting on a barstool with a guitar. And for the haters, he's not even playing country songs.

Great town.

I can't remember the name of the place but the BBQ place next to the arena (toward the river) from the arena was unbelievably good, rooftop dining there was way good.

Huh. My parents just got back from there, and were unimpressed, and said they'd never go back.

And I tell ya, bbdl's bonfire idea is looking better and better every day. I need some time to kill some time.

So, bbdl, I know you drive until you smell manure, and then make a turn and drive a couple miles until you see Old Man Johnson's place, but do you make a left turn or a right turn? ;)

You take a left off the interstate, go 10 miles, take a right on Farm Road 99, and just roll until the blacktop ends.

Are they part of the Anti-Saloon League? ;)
No kidding. I walked by no fewer than 20 bars, all but about 3 had live music, one had 3 stages all with bands, and it is Wednesday night! This was just on 1 street, in a 4 block stretch. Our group would have a helluva good time.

Good bars, too. We had our kids with us so our options to stop into places were limited but it seemed every joint - and the music from every joint - was better than the next. It was crazy cool downtown.

Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's home), about twenty miles from town, was really cool and well worth a stop.

My parents did go on a "history" tour, but their complaints were of the layout of the city, the cleanliness, and the lack of non-country music fan's options. I will say that on this trip, the reasons visiting were different than my potential reasons, however, these are also the people that love some odd movies, given their age range (Tarantino movies, especially Reservoir Dogs, Dogma, Downfall, and even the Matrix trilogy). So, they are not curmudgeons. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

They do. For bantams I watched most of the grading sessions out of curiosity and I watched all of the first scrimmages because I was helping with check-ins. We have 129 skaters, 141 total with goalies, trying out for bantams. We have about 6 more who are going straight to the C scrimmages. We had 4 grading sessions (down from a scheduled 5 as very few signed up for the last one - it started late on a school night) and four tryout scrimmages for four groups. Then after the As, B1s and B2s are drafted, the remaining kids skate in two C tryout scrimmages so the parent coaches can watch them then draft those teams. We will have either 8 or 9 teams, 1A, 2B1, and then not sure how they'll split the rest, either 3 and 3 or 3 and 2 or 2 and 3 for B2 and C. I think they should do 3 B2 and 2 C. A bunch of kids have left for the recreational league and they were all C players, I think a full team of them so just assume they would have been the third C.

This same group had 175 skaters and 20 goalies two years ago as peewees. Eleven teams. The A team won state, the B1 teams played each other for state final, two B2s played for district final and two Cs played for district final. It's a strong group.

I only wish we had that kind of talent around here.:p

That's pretty neat you can watch try outs though, best of luck to the kid, it was fun playing with him in the Poster's Game!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! thursday. yick.

New colleague started Tuesday. She is really great. Unfortunately she is not really seeing patients yet and the brain-children have totally scheduled me. I have 3 openings to cover the whole day and I am on by myself. I did mention we were tight for openings last week. Yep action was taken. So I am either going to do an amazing imitation of the 3 faces of Eve or maybe run out screaming insanely.

On a happier note- Lil is running out of his mind. He told us last night that the Capt. of his team overheard one of the other teams talking about him. Of course when asked what he thought about that he said, ”I dunno…“ I told him the other day I have no idea when he slipped into the age of mediocrity but if he was banned from saying “idk (I don’t know), maybe, kind of, sort of , a little” he would have no conversation at all!
