Oh, and there was a huge thunder boom and lightning strike, and my cable is out.

Also, my parents are moving out of my childhood home, and moving 3 hours away... :(

That sucks. At least your parents gave you a heads up when they are moving from your childhood home. My parents told me on my 21st birthday, then 2 days later they moved. 1.5 months later, I had to call for directions.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Yeah, I thought about going cheaper, but thought I'd want to be at the same place as everyone else.

Mookie, its Houghton, that is probably a bad idea there. Chances are you don't want to go home with "her" and if you do, she probably doesn't have running water.

I know I didn't want the Travel Lodge. ;) And the Franklin is where everyone/reception is at, it looks like a nice place, and it's cheap enough, especially when I'm splitting the room cost.

And Mookie, what Dustin said. I can probably count on one hand the number of hot girls there, and on two hands the number of "good enough" girls there I've seen in the 4-5 times (I think that's right) I've been up there for a weekend. And that was during the school year. Using an average scale of course. If I adjust it to Tech Standards, then those numbers might require a couple toes for the count on the "good enough" scale. ;)

Edit: this might shock some easterners, but the "nice" hotel in Houghton is about $95/night. And as I said, it actually looks nice!

And the students aren't even going to be there...that is where the handful of hot ones come from.

hp1015, Houghton isn't bad for vacationing, if Houghton is what you're looking for. If you want outdoors, camping, hiking, great scenery, then Houghton is a great vacation. If you want any semblance of civilization, Houghton is not that great of a vacation.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Well, from what I've heard, Houghton isn't exactly a mecca for vacationing...

I think the general area is, Houghton being an outskirt. Minnesotans call our similar, but more civilized area "The North Shore." ;)

Edit: bbdl: I said "during the school year." :p

Today's dinner was chinese food at the casino concession stand. I know, not much, but hey, it cost me 27 cents. In addition, counting last night and tonight, ended up with about $550 more in my pocket.

They have a young lady up there known as "Tundra Wookie." The women up there are that bad, where you actually have to distinguish them with nicknames. :D

You're welcome for that name.

Also a lot of students that went home for the summer come up for the 4th so you might have to adjust your scale

Well, I'll gladly sleep in Dustin's truck/room if that means MNS is getting some. :D

Last night at home until July! Headed to CNY tomorrow afternoon to fly out Wed AM.

I also have lobster arms. Got a nice sunburn today fishing with a couple buddies. Caught a couple upper 20/low 30 lb carp in what will officially be known tomorrow night as the "Ultimate Fishing Town" Link: http://www.wfnfishingtown.com/home.php

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

For the benefit of mookie: I have a busty Vietnamese co-worker that works day shift. Today, she showed up in a rather low-cut shirt and was showing significant cleavage.

Thanks for reminding me that we need to do this booking the hotel thing, like, yesterday.

Hi, Lodge. I did pretty well in my race this weekend: 1:48:51 was my time. That's an 8:19 min/mile pace. I was 20/140 in my age group and 263/1652 overall, plus it was a personal record by just over 14 minutes. I'll take it. :D

Figures the Foopers would be late in booking hotels...I booked mine a couple weeks ago. :D

And heard that was a good time and a good time! And any personal record is always a win. :)

Well, did they give you accurate directions that got you there? If so, that's a plus!

Congrats 'Diva!

I'm blaming the Techie Fooper via Wisconsin. That was supposed to be his task and not mine.
And thanks :) I'm pretty pleased with the race result. :)

Fooper + WI = Epic Fail. I think Einstein theorized that.

Wow, busy day. I fixed my car door - PB Buster is awesome. Then I ran an errand for my mom, delivered her the goods from said errand (bad day for her in that she was crying, wanting to go home to either her dad or my dad, both are dead), then ran to Home Depot to pick up some plants, got them in the ground and then washed the car. Then I watched Midway on AMC.
