Either way, all our branches in your *ers' necks-of-the-woods were closed today, so we got the extra business. Thanks, a-holes.

And I knew it was too good to be true. OFFICIAL status of my new "position" at work is an every other week rotation. DHead Boss can't let go of his chosen one (the previous offsite guy). That being said, CoolBoss flatout said, "watch, this won't work, trucks will be late, deadlines missed." Sure enough I had to go over and assist today to get the truck to the main building ONLY 30 minutes late.

Any which way, at least I have half the position. It's a start. Oh, no pay raise, either. Boo.
So what the cool boss is saying that the chosen one is an incompetent schmuck who's always screwing up over there?

Yes, sorta. The regular guy works as fast and as well as I do. However, the time it takes to organize everything (setting up how you pick/pack/ship) is what his weakness is. I can do that part in half the time, on a bad day, compared to him. Honestly, that's all it is. You have to prioritize everything, and that could change by the minute. He thinks 30 minutes ahead. I think 3 hours ahead. That sort of thing.

Anyway, it should be an interesting next few weeks. Also had my year review today, and it went well. Who's in for a fun ride?! This guy! Yay clusterf*!

Morning.

My Job does not suck for once.

It's supposed to warm up today, so far I'm not feeling it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Good morning Lodge. Back from the sunny, tropical climes of Brookings, SD. I believe it hit 7 above there yesterday. I love wasting 8 hours driving time to do 2.5 hours site investigation.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Well, all you can do is continue to outperform the other guy. Eventually, management will force a permanent change regardless of what DHead boss thinks - particularly if this impacts the company's bottom line as they have to pay out OT due to lateness.
This.

Morning, Lodge. I'm looking forward to the weekend, sort of. I don't have to work, but I have class from 8-6 on Saturday. :( And it's supposed to snow again. :( And tcbg will be gone all weekend as he's going to Durham for the UNH-Maine games and spending the night at his mom's house (she lives closer to Durham, so it's less of a drive to go to Friday & Saturday's game). :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

Just found out that I will probably be asked to go to New Mexico for the 16-18th of March. Yes, that is the Final 5, and yes, I am ****ed about it.

Tell them no. Shouldn't you already have this time requested off?

I don't request time off, I just go whenever I feel like it, and if there is something important, I work. If I had a trip planned, with flight booked, etc. I could tell them no, they wouldn't make me go, but since this is something pretty important I shouldn't do that for the Final 5.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 129: Still got those Winter Blues...

With things like that, I have often countered with "I have personal, family plans for those dates, will the days before or after that work?" And had success with that approach. I beats just saying "no" as it shows you are willing to go, but have a conflict. Don't be specific about the nature of the conflict, it's not their business.

Yeah, I have done that too. The problem with this situation is the nature of why I'm supposed to be down there. A whole bunch of our distributor personel, from areas in the world where we would like to expand the line of engines, that I cover, to, is going to be there to be trained in on our specific product. The dates for the training are already set in stone, and I am their contact whenever they need input or approval from engineering. It would be very bad to miss these couple of days.

Look at the bright side: it could be three weeks later.
