Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

It has been a tough one in the g household today. Our friend who was diagnosed with cancer late last fall was airlifted to Mayo last night. He passed away early this afternoon.

The crazy part is that over the past couple weeks things were trending in a great direction and even as of yesterday I would have bet that he was going to beat this thing.

My heart hurts. :(

F U cancer!

sorry man...:( :( :(

It's freaking pouring here. The clouds will behave for a few minutes, and then away we go again.

Yep, just got home today from class a little around 6:30, and it had already started in with black black clouds coming in. Got the dog to let it out quick and it wasn't too much after that it was coming down hard for a while. After that big blow went out and brought in some horses that normally stay out all night in. Just finished getting the last one in and it started raining hard again. Thankfully, those horses all needed hay and water yet, so I took my sweet time getting that all around for them, and when I was done with that, it had let up.

speaking of class, survived that today, certainly glad I trimmed things. Although I'm pretty sure I don't ever want to have somebody named Thunderthumbs friction my pectinus ever again. Next up for tomorrow, Anterior Neck. Supposedly, there's a section of that where we move the treachea over to the side gentlely and work muscles in behind that.

Drunk waiting for a subway train.. Ticked off that I counldnt muster the courage to tell cute girl she wad cute. Instead I remain a shell trying to forgive myself for my past failures... I apologize for the emoting.... I'm just sick of having to carry the burden of my failures. I'm supposed to be one notch above but I keep failing.

Just gotta keep trying... I'll win.... I'm supposed to win. :( :( :(

Don't know why any of you would want to come to Brest, France, but thought I would let you know it isn't worth the time. It's a french navy base that got blown up in WW2 by the germans, but it really has nothing to do. Oh well, I'm home in 13 and a wakeup. Hope everybody is enjoying summer back home.

My condolences, gmann. :( Cancer sucks.

Seconded. :( My condolences, gmann and gfamilyy.

Evening, Lodge. Pancakes are slightly unusual for dinner, but when accompanied by bacon they're more than welcome. :)
Pancakes and bacon sound good. Also had an idea for BBQ rib tips and pancakes after watching Feasting on Asphalt a couple weeks ago...

Good morning, Lodge. Off to the farmer's market, and then work.

Oh, and, I'm jealous of everyone going to the Flugtag tomorrow.

We call breakfast for dinner "Backwards Night". When Lil was Lil'er and Mr was travelling we would get in our PJs have dessert and then pancakes, french toast or waffles. Now when Mr travels sometimes Lil makes me pancakes for dinner:)

I am so sorry gmann. :( :( Thoughts and prayers your way to you, your family and your friend's family.

F U cancer!

Amen. Last month I mentioned that they thought my friend had lymphoma. Well, her diagnosis was confirmed and she does. The good news is, out of the four types of Hodgkins lymphoma, she has the best (for lack of a better term) kind. Thursday was her first chemo treatment. I was with her yesterday and she feels OK and interstingly enough, the tumor on her neck/collarbone actually looked like it shrunk already. That's promising (I think. I hope).

The reason I didn't do it was because I knew I'd look like an idiot... but you know... I gotta start doing those things to get comfortable in general... last night was pretty good... I think I'm starting to turn a corner. Just need more nights like last night to get better at it all.

gmann: I am sorry to hear about your friend. :(

Thanks everybody.

I have had friends pass with cancer in the past and even though it is a terrible thing all those people who lost the battle had it really really bad and all involved knew that the end was near so family and friends had time to prepare. The tough part about this death is that he was actually beating this thing and even the doctors gave him good odds that he would be a survivor. However, with no notice the cancer literally exploded in him and within 15 hours he was gone.

He was a great man and the other difficult thing is that he and his wife were enjoying their first year of retirement together and they had a grandson who just turned one.

He is no longer suffering and life goes on. RIP Tom.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

The weather positively baked here in Denver yesterday. It hit 102 in our neighborhood between four and five in the afternoon. Today the weather guessers are saying it will be decidedly cooler--the low to mid 80s--which is just fine by me.

My wife, a cousin of hers and I have an eleven o'clock tee time this morning. I hope all LODGEONIANS are enjoying their weekend. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

sorry gmann. F cancer. F it.

Well Lodge, after nearly an entire month of avoiding commuting to Greensboro and having to sit reserve there, that streak has come to an end. I'll be commuting out this afternoon to sit reserve the next three days. I'm gonna call them every day and ask if sitting reserve in Denver is an option, but I think at this point, I'm screwed. It's a bad time for it too, since I'm in my peak week for my upcoming triathlon. I'll manage, though.
