Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Scarlet, whatever did I do to you? Why did you have to make me hate Tuesdays, also? :(

Got into work, found out our off-site location worker is sick. Usually that's great, since I'm the backup and I love it there, but they didn't tell me right away, and started the day 1/2 hour behind, which is torturous in my line of work.

Then apparently everyone in the metro area bought stuff today, and we didn't get done until 7:30 with everyone staying late (usually just the later shift stays late).

THEN, found out one co-worker is out at least a month for FMLA (we think his mother needs care, she hasn't been well), another worker will be out until Sept b/c of surgery (non-work-related) and yet another worker will be out at least a week b/c of surgery (non-work-related).

I need a vat of margaritas, stat.:(
:( Hang in there

:( Hang in there

Well, I kinda have to, if I still want a job. ;)

The only good things to come out of this are:

1. My Aug vacation will be that much more enjoyable and earned
2. More money (via OT) for said vacation.

I'm on pace for 5+ OT hours, which I've only had 4 times before in my almost 9 years here. 3 of those times were because of out of town trips, where travel was included in the pay, and the other time was because of a special project involving a HUGE order (took about 7-8 manhours to complete).

evening lodge. Greetings from a hotel next to LaGuardia. Struck a seagull on final approach to LaGuardia. No, this wouldn't have turned into a Sully moment. Instead, I had to deal with the Port Authority asking me lots of questions about it.

I'm gonna try to explore NYC tomorrow...I haven't really explored New York in a few years.

How's the seagull doing?

Canada geese are 1000 times worse. F-ck those things.

Say, have you ever been to Rochester MN in winter? :D

And this is not even the worse I've seen in my lifetime, as I have family there. Silver Lake Park is insane in winter.

Edit: I wanna say that I read somewhere that about 26,000 geese are present in the city in peak season.

That's a nightmare. We've got idiots around here that "save the geese" because some of the local parks want to chase them off because they sh-t on everything and turn the parks and ponds within the parks into a toxic waste zone of goose crap. But nooo the gigantic sh-t birds are more important. Whatever. They're menaces.

I agree. They crap on anything and everything. You wanna be nice and feed the birds, even the "bird food" they sell in Rochester? The geese still crap all over the place. And the 2-3 roads around Silver Lake are always blocked by geese. You have to hope they respond to your horn, or you wait for them to cross.

It's kinda cool to see wildlife that upclose, but in this particular situation, it's a pain.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Are those ****ting menaces the same birds that people hunt, or do the hunters go after a different type of goose? If it's the same bird, I just say make goose hunting legal all year.
