Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Good morning. The weather guessers are saying the temps won't reach triple digits today in Denver. Yep, it's a cool spell. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 117: It's The Dog Days of Summer

Is that good, or only the fact that they came to an agreement?

We're getting calls from the technicians asking when to go back to work. Hopefully, the work resumes either next week or August 1st. I'm pretty sure from now until December 1st, we're going to be busy making up for July.

Good morning, Lodge!

Today is as Friday for me, leaving tomorrow through Sunday to visit old friends and co-workers in OK City. Beer, cigars, refined and unrefined conversation are all on tap.

74 more days, by the way!

Good morning Lodge.

Your attention please. I have discovered something rather disturbing. 'ewe has NEVER seen "UHF."

We must unite and let the joy of this movie enter her soul. The classic lines, the silly craziness of it, the "how the hell did this movie get made?!" of it.....

Please, think of Fans Of Al. Convert her.
Today, we're going to teach poodles how to fly! :)

I love how you and tcbg got it and other friends of mine didn't. It just kinda popped into my head last night and I wondered who would play along.

the sad thing... she's too young to know either answer to that question.

She doesn't know that TV used to have knobs, buttons and antennas. We used to have to get up and walk to the TV to change it! Oh the torture! :p

what was worse is that the antenna always performs better when you're holding it... always. You have it where you want it... let it go... poof... bye bye signal.

Nowadays people get cramps when they can't stream their favorite concert on their iPhone while in the middle of mountain country.

You forget, she grew up in the UP. The TV's up there still have knobs, buttons and antennas.

Morning all. Heading out to get my emissions test today. Hopefully my car's computer is ready to cooperate.

So we've found redneck central....welcome to Gatlinburg, TN.
Ohhh, and this town disproves the whole "smoking will keep you thin" myth.

Tomorrow: More Smoky Mountain NP & Blue Ridge Prwy then onto Asheville.
I will miss the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Asheville is pretty cool too.

You expected something else? Down there they think ranch dressing is a food group.
I have a friend who swears that if ranch dressing had existed during the Civil War, the Union could have won easily by cutting off the South's supply of ranch dressing.

Ton of movies I've never seen. Big Lebowski...Godfather Part II...Ferris Bueller's Day Off...the list continues. I'm a giant nerd and know all the quotes and key scenes though.

I blame Nintendo and a slightly sheltered childhood (parents didn't even let me watch MTV until late, LATE adolescence.)
I have never seen UHF either. But, Twitch, you need to see Godfather Part II and Ferris Bueller's Day off.

Any of you Boston area folks...

Friday my new metal band is playing at McGann's Pub in Boston, right by the Garden. I think we're playing at like 10 or so. $8 at the door. Its the 420mass.com website launch party or something. Whatever.

Saturday my cover band is playing the Auld Sod in Dedham, playing all night. This one is free!

Honestly, I don't think this is as egregious as some of the other movies she's not seen. Yeah, I love it, but it's not one I consider a "must-see classic" from our youth (or in general)

Could be worse. I have a boss that does not know who Mel Brooks is. Never seen Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, History of the World Part 1, etc...she's from Wisconsin, but that's not even a valid excuse for something like this...
See, now this is just tragic. I've not seen a lot of Mel Brooks's movies, but I own Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles. Classic comedies.

Today, we're going to teach poodles how to fly! :)

I sort of got it by accident. :o (I'd actually rediscovered the website I posted while going through some old files a few days ago.)

Had dinner on Sunday with a friend from college who was down in Asheville last weekend. Said he enjoyed it.

Do we need any more proof that the south just shouldn't exist?

Yeah, I would put FBDO on the list of "must-see classics from our youth".
