Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Hi gang. Just got back from being out all day. Drove with the 'rents up to tax-free Salem, NH to purchase a small refridgerator at Sears. It's a gift for my brother and his wife for their anniversary. Drove from there to my brother's house to drop it off. We all went out to lunch, then to my nieces' dance recital at 2pm. After that was over, on the way home, the 'rents and I went out to dinner. Dropped them home, and did a little home shopping at Mom and Dad's Market. :) Brought home a can of coffee (it was on sale, mom bought it while out shopping this week), a quart of ice cream (again, purchased on sale, stored in her freezer) and some meatballs that she had made this week. I like shopping at Mom and Dad's Market. The food is great and the price is right!! :)

Oh, and I need to add my nieces' dance school teacher to Sloe Gin's hammerpunch list. My younger niece is on a dance competition team. One of their performances is called Arlington National. It's won them awards this year. They performed it in the recital today and there's this part of the routine where they have headstones on the stage and they're all supposed to carry them off the stage. One girl left it on stage while the rest of the performance was going on. No biggie. You probably didn't know if you hadn't seen the performance before. Anyway, at the end of the recital we were waiting for both the girls to come out, the older one came out and said the teacher was reaming out all the girls in that performance for screwing up and leaving the headstone on the stage. And was not letting them out to say hi to their families. They're 11. Who the hell reams out 11-year-olds for something so minor??
Really, especially after the end of the year recital. My teacher was tough on us but she would never yell at us after the recital.

Yikes, Bob! You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Just got back from a 8.5 hour drive from Penn State to Boston. Have spent over 18 hours in the car since Thursday, but my younger sister is officially finished with her undergraduate career. Very exciting! :) Ken Burns was the graduation speaker and he was very moving, I hadn't heard of him specifically, but I'd seen several of his movies (one of the best documentarians ever).

Very few places deliver here - it is definitely the downside to the new apartment. However, I shouldn't be spending money on delivery, so I suppose it's not too terrible.
Who needs delivery when you have Kelly's in walking distance? ;) :p

Thanks everyone; Mom's back in the hospital. Looks like a nervous breakdown or something happened with her medication. Either way, I fear she may never fully recover.

At least my arm is healing nicely and the staples should be out on Thursday.
Good to hear that your arm is healing. I am sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope everything works out.

So remember this when it is time to buy Maggie presents. :D

Sorry that I am employed now and I don't have extra time to have random postings.;) Speaking of which...time for a beer. Who's in?

Good Evening, Lodge!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Once again, thanks everyone. Later today, I'll have more info and should know what's going on. Thankfully, though, we got a phone call this morning and according to the nurse we spoke with, it sounds like she's coming out of it.

Good morning, Lodge. Another nice day out; think I'll find a playground and play on the swings for a few minutes.
Hope things are still going well.

She seems to be responding more as time passes. She knows where she is, she knows who my dad and I are, and she's no longer sounding like a broken record. Hopefully this keeps up.

Evening, Lodge.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

My wife and I just completed a fun round of golf. Played with a dad and his son. The son goes to Northern Colorado [in Greeley] and is a starting outside linebacker on the football team. Kid hits it an absolute mile....and sometimes he even knows where its going.

I played from the back tees at 6694/70.4/125 slope [for you golfers in the crowd]. Shot a 41-43-84. Still not putting well. Two three-putt greens on the front for bogeys instead of pars. Had I avoided those I'd have broken 40 on the front. Two more three-putt greens on the back. I also had four one-putt greens on the front. Did get my first birdie of the summer. Once I get my putting under control I'll be back in the 78-82 range I usually shoot. Hitting the ball well off the tee and my short game is starting to be productive.

Gorgeous day. Temps in the mid to high 70s. A few breezes. Lots of sun. Great public course in Aurora which used to be a country club. Glad we were able to play today because the weather for the next three days looks suspect.

Have a good evening everybody. And now, off to a frozen marg.:D

So I just saw a Jason Alexander Jenny Craig ad, if he once had any self respect it's now gone.

Speaking of leaving self respect at the door, Buzz Aldrin is pimping Raw?

Not enough MARGARITAS for everyone.

Agreed. So much so, that I hardly even peeked online all weekend. (was visiting friends anyway)

He was on Dancing With the Stars too, wasn't he? :o

SB: Good luck with your mom, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Evening, Lodge.

No idea, as a general rule I don't watch reality shows. Off the top of my head....I've seen no more than one episode of these, and don't plan on watching more.

- Dancing with the stars
- Lost
- Survivor
- that house remodel show - I saw part of this for the first time last night. If I ever see the geek host I will punch him.....what a jerk-off.
- American idol
- The bachelor/bacherette
- That race show
- That donald trump show

Don't try telling me they are good or I should be watching......they bore the bleep out of me. :)

What about telling you that Lost isn't a reality show? ;)

Never watched these either...:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Anyone know anything about the newer model Jeep Wranglers? I'm thinking about picking one up in a few months - in my price range, looks like fun to drive, and capable of getting me to work in 12 inches of snow.
