Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

I'm hoping to be out of here in 5 minutes. I really love my schedule now that I come in an hour earlier than I used to and get to leave early. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

I ran into the same thing with the women's league down here. The rink where they place is really nice (it was built by some peeps my husband knows) but it's an hour away via one of the most frustrating, traffic ridden roads in town. (it really should only be 40 minutes from my house, but the traffic takes up an extra 20 minutes). Plus, since it is the only team in town, the entire schedule would be out of town tournaments, except the one they host here. I still would have done it, but my work changed my schedule to nights and there was no way to go to practice or games without taking time off. So, I did the team a favor and chose to have babies instead of playing hockey. :D

As far as the roads ending and picking up, you should be used to that you've driven in Boston. :p
Yeah I dont think it would bother me if it was straight driving, but I really hate traffic, the stop and go, the stupid factor just jumps through the roof.

As for roads ending and picking up, you would think I would be used to it, but it is just plain nonsensical here!

Althought Illinois has Mass beat interms of corupt political figures. Rod Blagovich is a friggn gold mine!!

Made a unilateral decision today that I will be taking the week of May 24th - May 28th off from everything (no school - week after finals, not working, not dealing with friends/family (bf excepted, of course), not looking for a job). I plan to lay on the beach (provided it's sunny), cook to my heart's content, sleep in, exercise, and take care of me.

Sounds like you are having a rough spell.
Here is to the thought of a mental health week carrying you till the end of may.
Hip Hip.....ok well this time I will say Hooray.

Since he has a pulse he's not too concerned about being admitted. :p
That's only North Dakotans that need a pulse to get in. Though I think going to STA he'll be OK. :p

There is always a nice large area rug from somewhere cheap until you get the feel of the house. Sometimes after you live in it a bit, your mind goes in a very different direction than when you first moved in.
Make sure it ties the room together...and don't let a chinaman pee on it...

Found out yesterday that I don't have to be home to work this weekend while my dad is away, because he is so far ahead of schedule with planting. So I have the option to go to Houghton to see my sister graduate. Everything will be free as I'd tag along with my parents, unfortunately, it sounds like a very unenjoyable trip. Should I go?
Up to you, I didn't go to either of my brothers' graduations and they didn't come to mine...

Why would I want to watch UCONN, they suck.
He didn't mean the Huskies who suck at hockey, he meant the Huskies that......ok, well, they suck too, but their fans are probably more fun.

Probably a good idea.

That is kinda what I was thinking about before. I really like the look of walnut and cherry with a darker stain. If I can find a color and wood that accents the oak well, that would be great, but I'll have to get samples and look at the 2 at the same time to figure out if it would work.

For what its worth, the wood floor in the dining area is a light color, not sure what kind of wood, I've been trying to figure it out. It doesn't have a fine grain but it has the black specks and lines in it. It looks really awesome, so I definitely would like to be able to compliment that flooring with whatever I do.
Walnut is nice when its finished, but it can be a BTiCH to work with, especially if you have a lot of allergies. Part of what makes it darker is some sort of a cyanide compound, can cause people to break out, a lotta people, just itch.

Good Morning Lodge.

Got plenty of sleep last night and now I'm in a good mood. :)

Go.

I am dealing with something similar these last couple weeks. Our miniature schnauzer is almost 14 years old now, and has taken a bad turn lately. I am taking her in to the vet to put her to sleep this afternoon.

Luckily, my wife and daughters are back in Texas for the week, and I can tell my girls that little Heidi died peacefully in her sleep.

An otherwise very good morning, Lodge.
Yeah, did that last summer with one of our dogs. Never a fun thing.

I'm going down to Allendale to see my little sister. At least you'll be going somewhere relatively interesting. I'll be going to freaking Allendale.
There's bars in Allendale now. :p and there's the cosmopolitian Grand Rapids a hop, skip and a jump away as well for your pleasure.

Elmer's Glue?
Actually, Its pretty hard now to ship horses off to the glue factory in the US. They wanted to keep wild horses from ended up there, so they passed some law pretty much ending the horse slaughter business in the US.

Thanks, all. I think vacation will be just what the future-PA ordered. :)
That sounds like an excellent decision. :)
You know what was also an excellent decision? 2 Louis's P.O.A's. That would be 2 shots of Maker's Mark mixed with a shot of amaretto over ice with a cherry in it per rdrink. Fan-tabulous decision. Went for drinks with a former coworker - she had dirty martinis, I had these and we split mac n cheese and a plate of goat cheese with bread. :) Happy sheep.

In light of the earlier tornado safety talk...

(662):

We've made a drinking game out of how many times the tornado sirens go off. We're good at tornado safety.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

Tornado safety is easy:

1. Watch news to see when the tornado is supposed to get to where you are.
2. Listen for sirens.
3. When you hear the sirens, go outside on the patio/stoop/porch to watch the tornado.

Minnesotans have been doing that for years. :D

Good Evening, Lodge!

Had a horrible day driving around town to find a stupid liner for an electric grill. No one has one. Bastard(s)!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

I have a coin jar set up... once its full I set up a mini-bar. The jar is nowhere near full... but that's the goal. I'm bored.

That is a very good goal to achieve. Good luck on your adventure.

I sorta do that, too. It's my road trip booze money. :)

I had $70 the last time I cashed out the jar..... I threw a party (pretty lame one... but this is me we're talking) and spent it on beer and stuff.

I'm at about $60 now and its about a third full. My general life goal is to transition into a classy urban type... without becoming a tool. Its slow going but each time I can take a credible step in that direction I gain some confidence. I think by the time I'm 30 I can have everything set up all nice and slick. Wish it wasn't that long but school took a long-*** time.
