Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

Good Morning Lodge.

Got plenty of sleep last night and now I'm in a good mood. :)

Found out yesterday that I don't have to be home to work this weekend while my dad is away, because he is so far ahead of schedule with planting. So I have the option to go to Houghton to see my sister graduate. Everything will be free as I'd tag along with my parents, unfortunately, it sounds like a very unenjoyable trip. Should I go?

Yeah, you've got to go see your sister graduate. Grit your teeth and bear it, I guess.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

What 'ewe said. Good luck to her, you and your family!

Glad to hear! Hope all stays calm.
Thanks! I hope all remains well... then again, I've gotten so used to the craziness around here that I've forgotten what calm feels like.

Just go... it'll be over with before you know it.

Good morning, Lodge.

Morning Lodge

This month all the Admin personnel have to take an online test verifying we know and understand what to do if we're required to evacuate the building or seek shelter. Shelter involves tornado, evacuation involves fire, bomb threat and issues with the nearby nuclear plant.
Because we're located so close to the Monticello Nuclear Plant, there's an elaborate plan for evacuation based on how bad the threat is, prevailing winds at the time, and other criteria I hope we never have to act on.
This should help you in case of such emergencies.

I guess I'll probably go to Houghton. I hope my parents realize that I will be firmly planted at the DT come Saturday, 9:00PM.

At the very least I'll get free Soumi breakfast and probably some more good food (Ambo, Library, Pilgrim River, etc.).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

Afternoon Lodge, there's a large hole already dug here, just waiting on a Vet to show up to put down a horse here. One of our boarders, but has been here for years.
I am dealing with something similar these last couple weeks. Our miniature schnauzer is almost 14 years old now, and has taken a bad turn lately. I am taking her in to the vet to put her to sleep this afternoon.

Luckily, my wife and daughters are back in Texas for the week, and I can tell my girls that little Heidi died peacefully in her sleep.

An otherwise very good morning, Lodge.

Thank you! ;)

And in return I'm offering all Lodge posters valuable tornado safety tips. It's that time of year people - be prepared!

(SFW)

Both excellent pieces of advice. :D Also, search your antique shops and get one of these. ;)

What Bob said - man up and go watch.

That doesn't sound very good at all. :(

Morning, Lodge. Quiet day around the house.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

The odds of a tornado damaging/destroying your house are very low. You're far more likely to be killed driving on a flooded road or being struck by lightning.

You didn't open the link, did you?

We had a tornado 2 years ago in July, didn't destroy the house but it destroyed one of our grain setups, about 600 acres of our crops and many neighbors barns and sheds.

Wow
That isn't what I call a good day or a good morning. Either way your kids(and you and the wife) will be heartbroken:(

I bet that is faked. It couldn't have been in the late 50's or early 60's because the ad has a zip code. IIRC, they weren't used until my senior year of HS, 63-64, and then rarely.

Faked? We own one, haha (Dad took it from the army arsenal where he used to work.)

Good morning tLodge. I was up way to early this morning because of a doctor's appointment. On the good side, that's done with (everything is fine, it was just a checkup) I can go take a long nap before work. :)

And it's a bit cool here today too. If you think a high of 68 is cool. I think it's perfect, but the weatherman disagreed.

Bob - good to hear that your mom is back home!

WTW - sorry to hear about your dog. :(

Too funny... I especially appreciate the Tornado tips. :p We don't get them in NH, so when I moved down here it was something I had to learn to deal with.

I don't think the ad is faked but I don't think it is from the original introduction of the product either. The typestyle is too new and it mentions microwave ovens. How many people had a microwave in the late 50's early 60's?

Ralph probably also felt that the advertisement should have listed the phone number as:

MIdway 2-6871
