Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #110: Offseason Is Here, So Deal With It.

I sorta do that, too. It's my road trip booze money. :)
My change jar goes towards books. :o

I had $70 the last time I cashed out the jar..... I threw a party (pretty lame one... but this is me we're talking) and spent it on beer and stuff.

I'm at about $60 now and its about a third full. My general life goal is to transition into a classy urban type... without becoming a tool. Its slow going but each time I can take a credible step in that direction I gain some confidence. I think by the time I'm 30 I can have everything set up all nice and slick. Wish it wasn't that long but school took a long-*** time.
Dude, I'll just be graduating when I'm 30 (okay, 28/29). Having everything set up at 30 is quite an accomplishment...

Good evening lodge.

Told my parents tonight that i'll go with them to houghton this weekend. At the very least it will be a cheap weekend away from the house.

Found out that my parents have Twins tickets for next monday and want to go as a family since my sister is going to be home. I'm definitely up for going. The tickets my dad got are season tickets from Cargill. Think those are good seats? :D

Made a unilateral decision today that I will be taking the week of May 24th - May 28th off from everything (no school - week after finals, not working, not dealing with friends/family (bf excepted, of course), not looking for a job). I plan to lay on the beach (provided it's sunny), cook to my heart's content, sleep in, exercise, and take care of me.
Sounds like a great plan!

I am dealing with something similar these last couple weeks. Our miniature schnauzer is almost 14 years old now, and has taken a bad turn lately. I am taking her in to the vet to put her to sleep this afternoon.

Luckily, my wife and daughters are back in Texas for the week, and I can tell my girls that little Heidi died peacefully in her sleep.

An otherwise very good morning, Lodge.
:( Sorry to hear, WTW.

Evening, Lodge.

Definitely - and it's not like you know no one up there.

And lucky SOB. :p

Tornado safety is easy:

1. Watch news to see when the tornado is supposed to get to where you are.
2. Listen for sirens.
3. When you hear the sirens, go outside on the patio/stoop/porch to watch the tornado.

Minnesotans have been doing that for years. :D

4. Listen to the tornado post game on the evil neighbor. "This is Harvey from Fridley and I have some sticks and leaves down in my yard." "This is Betty from Apple Valley and I saw a cloud that could have been a tornado, you know, it could have been my aunt Bertha, too...." :D

I love my front porch for tornado watching.

They might not be amongst the peasants!

My former roommate always laughed when I'd hop on the 'net to KSTP's site (I found them to be really accurate) to see when the worst would hit, then step outside about a minute before the target time.

"Here comes the drizzle......ok the wind is gonna pick up bigtime.....aannnnnndddddd.....there go the sirens.....NOW." :D

I almost sensed you cared. Almost.

He should. One of the more severe weather experiences in the metro the last couple years happened at his place when we burned 1 lb of bacon on the grill. The gods were not happy, and boy, did they show it.

If you live in an Irish neighborhood, my guess is the tornado would be so drunk after tearing up the other houses that it'd probably just tip over on its side and pass out long before hitting your place. :p

Brent, that was not severe weather - just heavy rain and very small hail. It did produce a cock storm on radar, though.

You know what's really fun during tornado season?

Having to escort a whole bunch of site visitors into the bathrooms while dressed in sopping wet 1820s-style wool clothing, because there's been a tornado sighted half a mile away. :p :o

(otherwise, I far prefer severe thunderstorms to regular storms)

Was that the cóckstorm?

Green skies, that weird watery/marshy smell, the odd calmness before the fit hits the shan.....oh yeah.

Edit: ewe, yes it was. Gorgeous day until the Bacon Death. Then it all went to hell.

Too true!
I think they should have a Truman Showesq show staring Blago, I would watch it endlessly. Maybe instead of jail they can put him in a zoo, I would go every week to feed him that stuff out the .25 machine they have at the petting zoo and maybe if he is good comb his hair for him.

IT IS!!!!! When I as working bear the aqaurium, I loved eating there. The cajun is my fave! Onions, peppers, dsausage, adn paprika/spices! :D Love it!
I always liked Al Capones when I worked at Old Towne Trolley, but not that Al's moved closer to the finanical district, it just doesnt seem as good when you trade the suits for the seedy factor. I also love the pizza place that is at the Haymarket, has no name on it, you walk in and its a guy with a pizza oven, some sawhorses and plywood..... I want pizza now.

I am not going to lie, I got all sorts of bent out of shape at 30, thinking I had to "arrive" what ever the heck that ment to me at the time. And while it was a bit of a train wreak then, I am not doing so bad now, and I am predicting 33 to be pretty awesome, because of the work I am putting in now both in my career and personnel life. Oh wait, I mean 34. I really just forgot my age.

Once you hit 34, you've lived longer than Jesus. Everything after that is just gravy, IMO. ;) :D

Went to Silvertone tonight (food was pretty good). Not sure about Al Capone's. I am thinking of Al's sub shop (not sure if it's the same). The bread there was also great.

Not too worried about turning 30. I think I'm finally headed in the right direction, so I'm excited about that more than anything.

Dam straight. And if that isn't proof that God wants us to eat pork, I don't know what is. :D

I've got about a year and a half left to be crucified.

We can bump up the timetable if you'd like. :p
