Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Apparently he has "love handles". Can dudes even really have those?!
Oh, and he's like 172. lol

Yeah... pretty much.

See, I was thinking you heard the lip and suction part and... ;)

Glad to hear Mrs RR is doing better. Seems they take out gall bladders like tonsils these days. Mrs Goldy had that done too.

Hope things work out whichever way you are looking CHA!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Umm, I think you misunderstood his request. ;)

Yeah - that was the winner - And repped :D

I opened up my work email this morning in the first email I saw was an email titled employment status from one of my bosses asking me to call him on his cell.

That's a nice way to start the morning. I called him and got no answer so I left a message. I'm waiting to hear back from him.

Hope it works out well CHA!

I got gray rep after I told someone I thought it was slanderous of him to post that Jack Parker tells his players to deliberately injure other teams' players. It wasn't the person who said that as that person is all green. I suppose I should get Extra so I can see who it was that gave "It's common knowledge jackhole" rep to me.

Cancelled my hotel in Vermont. :( Still taking the day off, though.

If the poster who repped you is all green then they have less than 100 posts, which will also show up as gray rep. :)

Not the worst surgery ever, but not alot of fun either. She can't wait to be home.

No surgery is fun and being home is way better than a hospital:D Good luck to her

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Well I just found out I've been put on company convenience leave which is basically a fancy way of putting somebody on unpaid status. The best part is it takes effect on Saturday. Thanks for giving me some notice.

Sure glad I made all the sacrifices I have made over the last three years for the company.

Sorry, hun. :(

Did you already give your decision to the State?

Ooo, is he going to work for the State so he can come in late, leave early and hold worthless meetings because he has nothing better to do? :p

Sorry, maybe that's just the Office of the State Architect that I have to deal with that does that.;)

That poster has over 700 posts so it wasn't him.

CHA - that blows! I can't believe they only gave you 2 days notice. Do you get any kind of severance or something?

Eck, sorry to hear that CHA! Hopefully things happen for a reason and there will be a silver lining for you.

Headed homeward in about 15 minutes. Hopefully the snow doesn't impact driving too much today. Catching 4 SLU games this weekend as the men host Hahvahd and Darmouth, while the women have atleast 2 quarterfinal games 11 miles down Route 11 at Clarkson.

This being done for the week Thursdays at noon is something I could get used to.

No I haven't given my decision to the State. The problem is they are trying to up their offer but it's going to be a huge pay cut currently it's a 27% pay cut. Plus there are other things at play that I would rather not discuss here.

That poster has over 700 posts so it wasn't him.

Convenience leave is not the same as getting laid off it's a five week period were I'm on unpaid status and then they will reexam if the work load has changed such they want to keep me. So my severance package (which I'm under the impression would only be three weeks) wouldn't take effect at this time.

Yes, guys can have love handles. For the matter, I have always thought of love handles as a guy thing.

CHA - That sucks! :(

RR - good to hear the Mrs. is feeling better. I hope everything goes smoothly with her surgery.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

They are basically try to force my hand into taking the other job so they can get out of paying my severance package. It's not a coincidence that they told me this today (only giving me 2 days notice) the day I'm suppose to make the decision on the other job.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Sorry to hear that CHA. :(

I delivered meals for Meals on Wheels today, it was a new route for me. At one of the buildings there was an older guy hanging out in the hallway, obviously a former hippy type that smoked a little too much back in his day. He also seemed a little mentally unstable, either from loss of brain cells or other means, he decided to tell us that he used to be in a band in the '70's and bragged about how much tail you can get when you're in a a band in the '70's. It was quite entertaining. :p

Wow that does suck. Please rep me this firm so I can warn others in our field.

On the topic of professional connections, I just got a very odd Linkdin request. It was from a guy I met for one weekend in 1981.

I was living in Oakland and working in San Francisco at the time. A friend of mine, John, from high school and college was coming out to the Bay area to visit. He was going to stay with this couple of Russian Jewish emigres in the south bay (Silicon Valley) and meet a college friend who lived in SF. The plan was for the Russians and I to meet at his other friend's home Friday night as the other friend was having a party that night. John would come from the airport to the party. I had no car at the time and figured out the buses to get to the address of the guy hosting the party. I rapidly moved into a conversation with the two Russians as it became apparent that we three were the only straight people there. I was a little uncomfortable with it at the time. Probably wouldn't be now, but I was still naive. Anyway the Russian just sent me a Linkdin invite. Don't know how the * he found me or remembered me.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Probably from our friend Billy Blanks.
When he reps me, he usually challenges me to a fight or something. The last one was "next time you come to Arizona, look me up, I'll meet you at the airport and knock your face in"

It's OK, we all know that he lives alone and his "trophy wife" just a blow-up doll. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 103: The Greatest Rep... to this point.

Thanks everybody for the well wishes. The company changed dramatically when we were bought out three years ago. The things my coworkers and I have experienced over the last three years is why I've been looking for another job. A lot has happened that I've never posted in the lodge because it would serve no purpose and in the end it would just sound like I was b!7ching. I'm not surprised this day came I was just hoping that I would beat them to the punch and be able to find the right job.

Unfortunately there really isn't much in the Twin Cities for engineers at this time (and has been this way for the last three years) so my options are very limited/non existent.

Oh well. Life goes on and they're are people who have it a lot worse them me so I shouldn't feel sorry for myself.
