THe second one had a leak right in the middle of the bag that wasn't in contact with anything until I put the brine in. Pinhole that expanded to a gush when I tried to tie the bag. GRRR.

I think that there was some insident at central Washington U where they thought somebody had slipped everybody date rape drugs, but it was just that they where all drinking 4Loko that likely caused that banning.

Dang, it's only 6F here. No wonder it felt chilly when I snowblowed the sidewalk.

I'm not sure where she got em, but they do make em. Yours wouldn't have fit in it at all though.

Put mine in around 7, and it looks like the smoker is going to stay hotter this time as well. On the couch right now kinda napping with a timer set to go off every 45 minutes to check the bird.

Happy Thanksgiving, Lodge. Dad's got the turkey in the oven, Mom's getting place settings ready, and we're waiting for my uncle and my aunt to show up. He usually brings some wine, but if not, there's plenty of beer downstairs. :D

You guys are eating early, I've got some stuff done but my turkeys aren't going for awhile yet, plan on eating at 3.30 or so. Hopefully turkey time is only 2.5 hrs

My aunt is taking care of the turkey; I'm in charge of the sides. Cooking up ciabatta-pancetta stuffing, sauteed butternut squash with dried cranberries and garlic, homemade cranberry sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and I'm bringing a French apple tart.

Nah, dinner won't be on here for a while either - probably not until 1 at the earliest.

Heading to a friends house this afternoon for our annual tradition (seeing home is a little far to make back for work tomorrow morning). Her dad is doing most all of the cooking. Asked what I could bring this year and got told dessert like jello or something so jello's in the fridge and an apple crisp got baked last night after my 11 hour day at work. Had a hard time not digging into that at midnight last night when I needed some sugar. Almost time to go enjoy. :)
*walks over to the lodge bar, pours a glass & raises it* Cheers to a safe & Happy Turkey Day!

Round 1... err... dinner is done. Table is being cleared, coffee is brewing and dessert is being readied. Not sure I have any more room but I will force myself if need be! ;)

We didn't even remember to put the stuffing on the table, but my family still had way too much food. :o Definite hit of the day: pumpkin cheesecake with bourbon-brown sugar whipped cream on top (a Cook's Illustrated recipe), though I also liked the fried green beans with mushrooms, onions and bacon. :D

Oh, so stuffed!!! The turkey took another hour longer than what I thought it would, but it turned out just excellent!!! Oh so yummy!!!! Just now I gotta let my pants out just to feel not so constricted.
