Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

SO, Mr got a 'raise' July but this is the first check it takes effect. It was a tiny raise but nice to have- so I thought. Nice contract. The health insurance is up 100%, they are now charged for parking. Taxes, of course, went up. Net increase-- it is a negative number. How can a raise make you lose money? Love that union negotiating the contract

What? I thought that's what you wanted? Now you want it both ways?

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

* Hockey. However, I had our first rifle match this season, and shot a career best, beating my previous best score by 5 points. This came after only 3 days of practice and only 4 targets... definitely wasn't expecting it. Made for a pretty awesome day. Now just to get ~10 more points onto my score and I may be close to qualifying for the NCAA championships... gotta find out more about what that entails...

When mine did that a few months ago, it was the fuel pump.

One of the license plate lights burned out this weekend - I'll have to deal with that on my next time off.

Last time mine went out (maybe 3-4 years ago) I didn't even get that.

I figured the light would come on at some point here. I've been trying to self-diagnose a problem the car has been having. At higher speeds (60 mph+) the car seems to shudder or hiccup. Doesn't drop RPM or speed, just shudders. When I'm in gear but at a stoplight sometimes the car shudders and the RPMs drop. Still happens in neutral and park so I doubt it's the torque converter or transmission.

Figured it couldn't hurt, so I added a can of seafoam with the last gas fill up. No luck and now the CES light is on. Probably a fuel system problem.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

If it's an auto transmission, the problem could be related to the overdrive (mode your car goes in when you are on the highway and hit a certain speed for the sake of better fuel efficiency). If you slow down / stop at a light and your car doesn't exit that mode, it'd be like trying to idle in 3rd-4th gear (not a good idea). My ****ty olds had that problem when I was in college - to the point that when I stopped at a light after exiting off the freeway, the engine shut off.

Eff it, I'm not waiting 'til my next time off - I'm going to get this dealt with Tuesday morning after work. I don't want to get pulled over for some bull**** light repair nonsense. I also need my front tires checked for leaks - they seem to be dropping air pressure a little bit too quickly (couple psi / week on one of them).

Little snow here this morning, winter storm warning to the northeast of me tonight into tomorrow. Guess the plow goes on today and wood needs to get in before it hits

There's also The Liffey (Irish place) that has decent breakfasts (right by the X). And they make a superb true Irish Coffee.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

Just home from church where we got to sing some Chritmas hymns/carols this morning. Hazlenut coffee is brewing. Eggs are being sacrambled in a frying pan. Cinnamon streusel muffins are about ready to be taken out of the oven.

My wife, her brother-in-law and I had a great time yesterday at a luncheon/Christmas Tree cutting party. Gorgeous weather in the low fifties and not a breath of cold wind. Cut down three trees of varying sizes for various friends and family members. I'm glad those events were held yesterday as it's gray, gloomy and thirty-two this morning. My wife and I brought our tree home Friday afternoon and decorated it that evening.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.:)

Bud makes a decent gluten free beer, which surprised me. I have a few other Gluten free that were good also, the best being Bards and another ok one was Grist made in Milwaukee

My shower beer was a Bard. Seemed a little sweet to my taste.

Ordering L'il's Xmas stuff. Sports Authority- give yr email, get 10% off. No notice anywhere there are exclusions. search the site because I am not getting discount thru portal~ Maybe they sell socks that qualify but I doubt it. Over 100 exclusions for brands then exclusions for all exercise, camping and a whole paragraph of categories. BIG rip off.

I had the same deal on Cyber Monday with Dick's Sporting Goods. Got the e-mail of 25% off any item* some exclusions my apply - I think the list of excluded items was considerably longer than the list of inclusions.

Snowing lightly and I'm trying to decide if I should still try to flood the rink. The ice is o bad now it can't get any worse, I think. I will need to flood several times to get it skateable.

Congrats to hockeyplayer on the shooting! One of my frat brothers was all Big10 and was invited try out for the Olympic team way back when. Given how crappy I shoot I am always amazed by those who can do it right.

Re: Rep Lodge 125: The Thanksgiving Dinner Version: Gimme Some More...

mookie, the Ivy is very new while the building the W is in is quite old (was once the tallest building between the Mississippi and San Fancisco) but was remodeled from offices to the W in the past 10 years. The restaurant in the W, Manny's, is better than Porter and Frye in the Ivy, but the Ivy spa is nice. Parking will be expensive either place (although at the Ivy I could let you park at our office about 4 blocks away).
