Quinnipiac Bobcats 2024-25 - Meet me in St. Louis!

A couple of first half thoughts:

1) Our offense seems to have struggled since the 8-2 win over UNH. Puck possession seems to be the issue, although it was better against Union. I expect the see a much better team the 2nd half.
2) We have found a goalie in Silverstein...that is such a relief
3) Cornell struggling is a surprise. I thought they would be the best team going into the season (and maybe they still will be) and after the UND series.
4) Outside of Denver, NCHC not so great. UND a disappointment so far.

According to Buccigross, Quinnipiac will play in the 2025 Men's Ice Breaker Tournament at Arizona State's Mullett Arena October 10-11, 2025. Quinnipiac, ASU, Notre Dame and Alaska.

BucciOT.Com on X: Arizona State University will serve as the host institution for the men’s 2025 Ice Breaker Tournament

This is terrific news!

Personally, I'd love to check out ASU's beautiful new arena since my previous two trips to Tempe I saw QU play at the old (and tiny) Oceanside Ice Arena.

I would definitely make that trip. Not the biggest fan of Arizona but would love to see the new rink as well. I also assume we will make a return trip to Penn St the following week. So that could be back to back road trips.

So much of sports is mental. They thought the game was over at 5-1 and stopped playing. Good job to get the winner and make those 10 minutes not matter.

The new kid really struggled on D today. Why would he dress over Benoit?! He is much more reliable and experienced. I wonder if he’s injured?

Horrible game on Saturday and not much better last night despite the 6 goals. Goaltending seems to be a concern again since I am not confident with MM. Hockley seems to take a lot of hits from the other teams so far. Phil G had a nice interview with him and he seems like a good kid.

Need to get back to basics and shoot the puck against Princeton. Big weekend the following week.

Saw a stat on one of the broadcasts this season that Quinnipiac has the longest active streak in the nation of making the NCAA Tournament. Starting to look like we're going to have to win the Whitelaw to make it this year and extend the run.

Sure looks that way. For the first time in a while, the ECAC will likely be a one-bid conference this year.

MM proving me wrong. And I am glad about it. DS seems to have been figured out I think. Seems like most of the goals he allows are up high. Need to fix that. Nice 2 wins against Princeton and we have a big weekend in Hamden.

WHY THE HELL ISNT THE ESPN + broadcast WORKING FOR THE QU vs CORNELL GAME?!?!?!

There was also a similar issue for the start of the QU at Mount St. Mary's basketball game today, so ESPN must have been having an issue.

TV is hard. It doesn't always go right.

That was a fun game. Good luck for the rest of the RS and hopefully we will play you again in Lake Placid and again again in St. Louis.

Also the first half of our basketball game today. It was site wide.

That was a fun game.
All 3 games we've played this year have been good hockey games. Lot's of back and forth and surprisingly clean games, not the usual chippy play we've come to expect.

It was nice to see all the coaches at center ice giving Schafer his props. The refs even spent several minutes with him and Casey. I'll miss the way he and Pecknold played their own little game of chess during our contests. Pecknold even used his patented "dive" gesture a couple of times tonight, and Mike had a couple of his famous "talks" to the refs. In the end I truly believe that they both have a ton of respect for each other even if the public perception is different. Cornell (at least the one that I've known for the last 18 years) won't be the same without him.

Good luck for the rest of the RS and hopefully we will play you again in Lake Placid and again again in St. Louis.
Thanks, and the same to you, except I'm not sure I want to face you guys again this season.;)

The NESN broadcast was ok according to what I've heard. That seems to further indicate the problems were with ESPN since they both would be using the same feed from QU.

Very classy all around and your post included. Well said. After spending a frustrating weekend at SHU last week, I wanted my wife, couch and dogs to watch last night instead of brake lights. I totally agree about a ton of mutual respect and as they've aged a bit, all seems calmer. Mike talks but doesn't scream and berate the zebras anymore. Rand has always been a cool operator! Good luck to QU and a Saturday night at Herb Brooks Arena and a 4th battle would be awesome.

Sadly I think the ECAC only gets one team in this year. I thought Cornell was set up for a big year this year (last year for coach, Shane as a senior, stacked roster) and looked good beating No Dak. Haven't really followed why you guys are not clicking but agree we had 3 real good games. Good luck the rest of the way!
