C'mon Q!
Have not seen or heard anything.Does anyone know how Charlie Leddy is? Sending all good thoughts to him!

That's what I think happened too Steve. Maybe a shoulder issue too. It was a nasty way to hit the boards. That was also after he got boarded pretty hard a few minutes earlier. He certainly took a beating last night.Leddy got tangled up and fell with his back to the boards. Looked to me like he banged the back of his head into the boards, he was almost in a sitting position when he hit. My guess is that he got concussed, he looked woosy being helped off the ice.
Really fun event at MSG tonight.
I thought in the first period that the moment was too big for our team, but whatever Rand did to settle them down for the 2nd, that might be the best period we've played all year. Third was a bit more hit-and-miss, then we controlled that entire overtime.
Great tie against a good Cornell team.
I didn't realize that was basically a Cornell home game -- full credit to them for basically renting out MSG and creating a special event for their fans. One of the model programs in college hockey. Over 16,000 fans at the Garden tonight, the largest NCAA hockey crowd of the season by over 4,000 fans.

I believe it's also the largest crowd Quinnipiac has ever played in front of in a non-NCAA Tournament game.
Great atmosphere last night at MSG. I thought we had a decent number of QU fans in the stands (with plenty of loud "Let's Go Bobcats" chants throughout the game). A friend of mine, who played hockey at QU back in the 80s, texted me during game asking if there were any QU fans there because the ESPN broadcast kept showing only Cornell fans in the stands. I mean, I get it. It was basically a Cornell "home" game with their broadcast team/announcers on the call.
I thought this was interesting -- During the game, they showed Cornell hockey great Joe Nieuwendyk on the jumbotron. While he was holding up his Cornell sweater, his daughter, a Quinnipiac grad and former Ice Cat, was sitting next to him wearing her Quinnipiac hockey hat. So great.
Saturday's contest was the most attended Cornell hockey game at Madison Square Garden since Red Hot Hockey on Nov. 28, 2015, when Cornell and Boston University played to a 3-3 tie in front of 17,154. It was the second-largest Frozen Apple game in the series history, trailing the inaugural contest on Nov. 24, 2012, when the Big Red posted a 5-1 win over Michigan before a sold-out crowd of 18,200, which was the last of four consecutive sellouts at the venue.
Not nearly good enough 5v5 tonight, but at least we took advantage of our opportunities.
Still have no idea how our third goal wasn't challenged. Was the RPI coaching staff asleep? Already on the bus? Daydreaming about which thermals to wear at Hobey Rink tomorrow?

Simple…they didn’t know. I sat behind the bench and from that angle you couldn’t tell where it went after the puck carrier tried to tuck it past Giesbrecht. It appeared to disappear behind him and the only person on the ice who was positioned to see whether it went in was the referee, who must have really double-timed it back because he was in along the goal line and immediately signaled it was in. Only later, when I saw it being discussed online and brought the broadcast up on my phone, did I have reason to think he was wrong.
Bring back goal judges. I’ll bet some of the students got a laugh out of it because, to the extent they were paying attention and not discussing the weekend’s campus party scene, those seated right behind the goal would have seen it didn’t go in.
The QU media team clearly knew the call was incorrect because they cut off the scoreboard’s celebratory goal replay just as the forward was about to put the puck on net. In the pros I think both teams have someone monitoring the camera feeds and signaling the coaches whether to challenge. Are NCAA teams allowed to have someone in the press box or nearby with access to video from the broadcast and goal cams?
Did some research. Cornell's 2024 MSG game vs. Quinnipiac was the highest attended Frozen Apple/Big Red Hockey game since 2015. Best "non-BU" game since 2012.
2024 vs. Quinnipiac - 16,593
2023 vs. Boston Univ. - 15,289
2022 vs. UConn - 12,247
2021 vs. Boston Univ. - 13,160
2020 - no game
2019 vs. Boston Univ. - 15,142
2018 vs. Harvard - 14,132
2017 vs. Boston Univ. - 14,606
2016 vs. New Hampshire - 10,418
2015 vs. Boston Univ. - 17,154
2014 vs. Penn State - 15,027
2013 vs. Boston Univ. - 18,006 (sellout)
2012 vs. Michigan - 18,200 (sellout)
2011 vs. Boston Univ. - 18,200 (sellout)
So, I guess we get invited back in 2026? ;-)
As of this very moment, Quinnipiac leads the ECAC.
That could change with results tonight, but for all the agita over the first half of the season, we end the first half no more than one point behind 1st place, and potentially in the lead. If this is a rebuilding year, it's a pretty good rebuilding year.
Colgate just beat Cornell 6-3 in Hamilton so now the Raiders have overtaken QU in the ECAC race.
But you're right. I think if you asked any of us a month ago, after getting swept by Dartmouth/Harvard at home, that we'd be 1 point out going into the break we'd take it!
The quest for the Cleary Cup is really up for grabs. I think there are 6 teams, including Princeton, that each have a realistic shot to win it. Should be a very fun second half of the season!
