Quinnipiac Bobcats 2024-25 - Meet me in St. Louis!

I was just a little bit busy last night so wasn't able to watch, but just looking at the score ... that was some response by the boys last night.

I agree. I missed the 1st period on Friday, but thought Silverstein looked good the rest of the way. We just couldn't put the puck in the net. Marinov really scares me because he will give up 4 goals on 5 shots but then looks solid for 20 minutes. He's too inconsistent and always seems to be out of position. This team can't afford to play him until the team gels more on offense.

That being said these young guys have high skill and will be fun to watch as the season goes on. I think we will be a pretty good team by the end of the season but the early schedule is tough so we may be out of it in the pairwise by then.

In regards to goalies, did I read correctly that the OHL kids may be able to play NCAA soon? Any possibility to add a goalie at the break?

They won’t be eligible till 2025-26 season

Disappointing weekend, but I think we found a goalie. The offense just needs to gel. Too inconsistent. Not sure if Saturday's troubles were Rand mixing up the lines. But he is still trying to figure it out. We need to score 3-4 goals a game to have a chance to win.

The program losing so many players early and all at once has resulted in RESET button mode. 14 new players and they haven’t bought into Rand’s system. Been spoiled with players staying 4….even 5 years. Its hard to watch but thank god there’s a recent Natty to make fans more patient.

It's too early for doom & gloom. They've played well but still have a little ways to go. Saturday was as much about UNH completely changing their game plan along with the goalie stepping up. He was their best player in that game after being embarrassed Friday.

I did like what I saw from Silverstein all weekend. His only weakness has been the huge rebounds but so far that hasn't bit him.

We have our goalie. Silverstein was outstanding last night.
Absolutely agree. He was the difference.

It does seem to be taking longer for the team to get going than I thought it would. Still very sloppy at times. Don't see any glaring deficiencies but things just haven't "clicked" yet. Makes for needing solid goaltending.

Can’t see them going to Marinov much at all again if at all. The save percentage stat is glaring between the two goalies.

Outside of a few turnovers by Marcellus handing the puck, the team has been solid. Just need the offense to gel now that goalie appears to be set.

Not the most auspicious start to a season I've ever seen for Quinnipiac, but it's still early. Hoping this isn't a rebuilding year and they can find their groove soon.

Absolutely atrocious. Unwatchable. This team doesn’t play with any spirit or intensity. All the players who left for a life in the AHL and then ECHL…..SHAME ON YOU!!! you left the program high and dry!

Oh for crying out loud, stop whining. You guys raided the transfer portal, you use grad transfers and now you're bellyaching about the players who left? Grow up. Nobody cried for us last season when we lost Farrell, Coronato, and Laferriere. We took our lumps and are starting to rebuild w/o the portal or grad transfers. I didn't think we were going to beat you guys in your barn but when Dartmouth won, I thought, okay, we've got a chance. Get a grip.

ICECAT1811 is the single most embarrassing poster on this website, by far.

It was funny though when Skate79 claimed Cornell had a recruiting advantage over Harvard because of "lower admissions standards." Did Coronato leave to pursue a PhD in physics?

Funniest post of all time. Your leading scorer ditched BU LOL

This is the cost of winning a championship and having such a good run the last few years. Nothing wrong with a rebuilding year. I do think this will turn as the season goes, but this is as bad as we've looked since before COVID.

We won a title a year and a half ago. All of those players have moved on, and they earned their professional careers. I'll take this trade every day.

The only think I will say is when is the National Championship going to pay off in terms of higher end recruiting? The championship wasn’t a fluke. They have been to 3 Frozens Fours since 2013 and countless NCAA tournaments. It’s time to take the program to another level.

It may never with NIL... college hockey will become the haves and have nots. I'm not sure where we fall on that ladder but it's certainly not near the top.

Recruiting high character and judicious use of the portal has worked well. The problem right now is this team hasn't yet fully bought in. The past 5 years the buy-in was almost immediate, this year is just taking longer. It will happen... eventually... I hope.

That said, this weekend was borderline embarrassing. Totally disjointed effort, no sense of urgency, and they seemed gassed in the 3rd. Hopefully a low point and an eye opener.

I'm too stunned to check but when was the last time we were swept at home and when was our last shut-out at home?

First off, congrats on the win. Harvard was the better team and took home the 2 points.

Now, stop bitching about what we do with the portal and grad transfers. The Ivy's archaic athletic policies don't allow it. That's not QU's or Pecknold's fault. He's playing within the rules just like most other DI programs. Your issues are with the Ivy League, not us. It's obvious after this weekend that the portal and transfers don't always mean success, at least in the short term.

I wasn't the one b***ing about your players. It was one of your guys. I simply pointed out that his crying about players leaving the Q high and dry was over the top. It was a weak point given your use of the transfer portal and grad transfers to reload. We don't have that luxury as an Ivy and we have to live with it. It may mean that eventually, the Ivies have to abandon the ECAC to be competitive in the long run. Who knows what effects NIL and the recent ruling that allows Canadian juniors to play NCAA D-1 hockey will have on college hockey conferences. We've already seen what it's doing to college football. We're in uncharted territory here.
