Quinnipiac Bobcats 2024-25 - Meet me in St. Louis!

I wasn't the one b***ing about your players. It was one of your guys. I simply pointed out that his crying about players leaving the Q high and dry was over the top. It was a weak point given your use of the transfer portal and grad transfers to reload. We don't have that luxury as an Ivy and we have to live with it. It may mean that eventually, the Ivies have to abandon the ECAC to be competitive in the long run. Who knows what effects NIL and the recent ruling that allows Canadian juniors to play NCAA D-1 hockey will have on college hockey conferences. We've already seen what it's doing to college football. We're in uncharted territory here.

I was at work last night and someone asked me if I could name 3 players on the Quinnipiac basketball team. I got to 2. I watch them as much as I can, but with the transfer portal and players coming and going every year, there are very few guys who stay for 3-4 years. It's making it a lot tougher to be a college sports fan when your best players leave for greener pastures every year. It is what it is -- I'm glad they're getting more rights and ability to decide their futures, but it's definitely difficult from a fan and viewership perspective.

This year kind of reminds me of 2017-2018. That team just never could gel on offense. Always just a little off. This team just seems to skate around and can never get set up on offense. I don't really blame the defense and goaltending. Those are fine. We seem to get burned with late penalties (self inflicted). Overall seems like a lack of leadership and think we will be much better 2nd half.

Prior to the start of the season, I was concerned because the early schedule was tough with all the new faces. As others have said, it was time for a reset year. That being said, I am not giving up yet. However, the schedule gets tougher with the 2 Cornell games coming up.

That's more like it!

Despite allowing the first goal, thought we controlled the tempo all night. Silverstein strong when called upon. Marcellus line was excellent, dominated the game.

Six-point weekend, and we beat Yale. Great weekend!

The only think I will say is when is the National Championship going to pay off in terms of higher end recruiting? The championship wasn’t a fluke. They have been to 3 Frozens Fours since 2013 and countless NCAA tournaments. It’s time to take the program to another level.

It already has. Pecknold can tell recruits with a straight face they will be playing for a top tier program going against the best competition, and getting lots of attention on the national stage. This is Q benefitting from those deep runs.

They are as close as there is outside of the Minny-Denver-North Dakota axis of evil to a perennial national title contender. There's no place higher to go. They're there.

Agreed completely. I saw a stat during the game last night that Quinnipiac is the only program in the country to make the NCAA Tournament 5 consecutive times. We're still not getting the Gabe Perreault level of prospects, and maybe that's what QUAlum2004 is talking about -- it would be great to have the kind of rosters BC and Minnesota have -- but our program is absolutely in a great spot, and arguably in as good a spot as anyone in college hockey.

Rand's model has worked really well. While blue chips might be nice, team culture comes from the upper classes.

While it was a good road weekend with 6 sorely needed points, it was Brown and Yale. We need to find our game and identity quick with Cornell and Colgate upcoming. There's still a lot of sloppy play, too much looking for the pretty setups and not enough throwing pucks at the net.

I also wish there was a stat about shots to the center of the goalie's chest. Unfortunately I think we'd lead that category by a wide margin.

Yes, absolutely agree. But you can't convince me there are no blue-chip prospects willing to play our style and willing to buy into our culture. There should be a way to keep our culture while also improving the quality of player that comes to Quinnipiac. We can -- and should -- do both.

And this isn't a criticism of the program. I hold Rand and his staff in the highest of regard. But it would be a hell of a lot of fun to get those major 1st-round draft picks in here every once in a while.

What a performance from the Bobcats tonight! I was going to write this exact same post no matter the result, but we were terrific tonight. Held the Big Red to 16 SOG I believe. That's an outstanding defensive performance.

Offensively we should have had a lot more, Ian Shane was terrific. Good offensive performance, and defensively -- aside from Schwartz being too soft on the puck leading to Cornell's goal, they were just awesome.

Great, great win. Hopefully the kind of game that gives us the confidence to push forward and really jump-start the season.

Great road win for the boys!

Our offense seems to be finding itself. Lots of good looks and chances... Shane kept the Big Red in this one for sure.

I think Cornell is a bit overrated right now. Certainly didn't look like a #8 team.

Nor did we look like the No. 18 team in the country.

ZERO effort in OT
ZERO effort ALL GAME ….especially when you had the 5 minute major against a team with ZERO NHL draft picks in front of 27 fans. YOU OBVIOUSLY were not the players we thought you were. YOURE SOFT!! and don’t play for each other like the NCAA natty team did. You should have INCREASED your URGENCY when they hurt Leddy!!!! YOU DONT DESERVE to were the sweater!!! YOURE SOFT!!!

HEY RAND!!! you need to spend the next 15 practices playing 3X3!!! I can’t remember when you’ve ever had a positive result in OT!! Perhaps in 2016 was your last OT win? Maybe you need to go to the NHL now that you’ve got your natty. You’ve gotten complacent. We need Reid Cashmam to come home and strike a fire under the ass if these soft players

We won an overtime game IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT LAST SEASON, you incredible fool.

That's a 3-point road weekend in two barns we usually struggle in. It's a great weekend.
