Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

A very frustrating game. Our inability to score was the difference. Four pipes didn't help. Not much else to be said...

PP% at 11.5% lowest in league PK 85% best in league. Why not switch them up? CHN season team stats Q and Cornell reveal GAA. Hope we can fix by next year.

I have upwards of 8 forwards coming in next unless they bump a couple for the following year or a couple forwards don't return. They should improve a lot next season.

However this season Cornell has scored 55 goals. This season Q has scored 55 goals. This season Cornell has allowed 25 goals. Q has allowed 59. That stat says not the goal scoring. The CHN comparison is interesting. Next 2 years they need to stop shots .

Cornell has played 15 games compared to 21 for Quinnipiac which is a big difference.

#5 Cornell 0-1 loss is OK for me, with this team. Winning against #17 Colgate, despite weakening in 3rd period is OK. Split with 2 (midseason) Top 20 teams in a respectable fashion. It is a re-set year. But, I am OK with this. At end of 3rd period, the team kept Cornell from scoring an open net goal. Good takeaway, because we knew this team was not going to score. Simple. I'll take this weekend as a positive. If they can find some team-play, to generate offensive pressure, I see a grindy defensive crew taking care of business on the back end. I even liked seeing Duane get in the mix a few times. Defensemen getting sucked out of position too often this season has put Goalkeep in play too often. Finally, I would love to see a stat on pulling goalie and I would call that an, "Oh $h!#" moment, like hitting "control-Alt-Delete". If the team does not figure out how to score without breakaway speed, which is no guarantee either, this season is all about getting into ECAC whole and healthy and being a spoiler at best. I like the recruits, especially from mid west. My contacts in Big10 tell me they have a fear that Quinnipiac discovered the talent in Chicago and Detroit areas.

Any details?

Not totally surprising as he's been in and out of the lineup since he got here.

All I will say is he didn't leave the team on his own. I don't know if he is taking classes. This helps the glut of forwards they will have for next season.

Now that surprises me...

If he is he won't be for long.

I guess we'll see how it all shakes out.

If he’s close to graduation he may complete it. Otherwise if he wants to play somewhere else, he’ll have to sit a year. Don’t think he made the trip to Colgate/Cornell. He wasn’t sitting with the guys that didn’t dress.

He's a junior. If he wants to continue his college hockey career I would think he almost has to transfer now to take advantage of his 5th year of eligibility.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything since they can only travel with 3 extras during the regular season.

If he graduates this year (like Anas did) he can play as a graduate transfer next year, like the St Lawrence goalie did this year at Wisconsin . If he doesn’t graduate and transfers he has to sit next year. Playing Jrs or summer classes he may have the credits to graduate. Maybe

I don't know what his academic status is. And we'll likely never hear anything "official" about any of this.

Tough, tough loss. That one's gonna sting a bit. They were outplaying Dartmouth in the 3rd and had all the momentum. A hail Mary shot pinballs around and goes in off a defender with 9.9 seconds left... just no puck luck at all. Another 0-fer on the PP didn't help either.

Regroup for the quick turnaround at Harvard tomorrow afternoon (3:30 start).

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

First time in 11 years that Quinnipiac didn't beat Dartmouth at least once in a season. Embarrassing for this to happen.
