Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

Hey! Live hockey tonight! It's been way too long...

Critical points on the line. Hopefully they're not rusty from the 10-day layoff and can come out firing.

Go Q!

Let the kids play Rand....the takeaway from this season will be a chance to see what the younger kids do in real competition versus intra squad. Not a down year at all, nothing to be ashamed of. Good losses are steps to good wins.....

That was a rough one, and 2 points that we desperately needed. Doesn't get any easier with Clarkson coming in on Friday. Absolutely need at least 2 points this weekend or I think we're doomed to be on the road in the 1st round.

It's clear that whatever the problem is, they aren't able to fix it, or even make it workable. I agree... time to mix it all up and let the new guys see some ice time. How much worse can it get?

Problem is these players are very good from what I heard. Its not going to get fixed this year. Hence why they are bringing in a ton of forwards for next season. At this point a home playoff series is even dwindling. That would be a 1st since the 2006 season, their inaugural ECAC season.

Here is the whole quote
“I’m embarrassed at how poorly coached we were tonight. Our buy-in was unacceptable. I think when you play the game of hockey you have got to have your best players, what they do and the actions they take, it permeates through the team,” Pecknold said. “It’s frustrating because some of these juniors and seniors have been here before and they’ve been on those Frozen Four teams and they don’t care as much as they used to. We need to get that hunger back.”

This reminds me the of the 2009 New England Patriots a team that Bill Belichick just couldn't get to play the way he was wanted to. They still won the division at 10-6 mostly due to Brady but were smoked in the wild card playoffs at home. The problem with some of these juniors and seniors that were in the Frozen Four is that some of them never developed into the players they thought they would be outside of Chase Priskie and maybe Landon Smith though his statistics have diminished every season since the Frozen Four.

Did you mean to say "aren't very good"? Either way, I don't think things can get much worse. Game experience might help some of them.

I've finally accepted that we're not very good this year... well, more like they're just not playing up to their potential (not even close). Too many little things they're not doing (probably the "coachability" Rand talks about). That tells me that some... most... all... are going into freelance mode instead of playing within the system. It's been frustrating to watch; I'd imagine it's been equally frustrating to coach, although some of the blame has to lay on the staff as well. In game adjustments just don't appear to be happening (or aren't being executed). All season long teams have come out in the 2nd and outplayed us. They make changes and adjustments that we don't counter.

With only 8 games left every point will be critical. There's still hope of a 1st round home series but not if they don't go out and take care of business.

I agree. I think the Frozen Four team had a special group of leaders. The Seniors that left that year, in addition to Devon and Sam left a leadership void that the Freshman and Sophomores on that team were unable to fill. The success Devon (before injury) and Sam are experiencing at the next level is not "surprising". IMO, I think they made the right decision to move on, but if they had stayed, I think we'd be in a different place, not only on the ice, but in the locker room.

My bad "Aren't" is what I meant.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

That was as good a game as they've played all year. A very solid effort from start to finish. Other than leaving the guy wide open on Clarkson's PP goal they made very few mistakes. Passes were much better and crisper than they've been in a while. Defense was solid and Petruzelli was fantastic... looks like he's finally settled in to the college game.

They'll need to do more of the same tomorrow. SLU has had our number in recent years but a lot of that was due to Hayton. He's gone and we need to take advantage of that. We absolutely need to beat the teams behind us.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2017-18: Chase the dream...

If there was anytime to play Clarkson this was it after the struggles they have had the past two weekends. Shutting down the Rempal-Brosseau-Sturm line was the key as they combined for 80 points this season.
